BRR was talking about the length of time since the last time the Outlaws swept the top 5 at the Grove, not the actual length of the track.

Aha!.... had me fooled too wink

It’s actually a good thing, that picture of Calistoga is beautiful.

Thanks for the pic.  Immediate add to bucket list top 5 of tracks I'd like to attend a Sprint Car race at.

Long narrow straightaways and tight corners. I;m a PA guy and of course I;d've loved to have seen our guys do better. But reality shows that the 2 fastest cars in the entire country started 2 and 3 thanks to dash inversion. On a track like Williams Grove, dirty air really plays a big factor. It's not easy to pass in lap traffic. I actually think track prpe was among the best in recent mmeory.

World of Outlaw format rewards speed early in the night. And the best cars ended up up front. There is little doubt in that. If Lance had drawn 1 or 2...he would've likely won that race. The race also went nonstop after the intial red flag. Sheldon has a faster care then Donny, but he was having issues on entry and he just couldn;t menuever in lap traffic. Nobody could. It part trtack style, part format, part modern day sprint car  racing. The track got a bad rep this weekend and honestly I don;t think it was deserved.

You may see some whining and excuses being made but that's about it. I heard some of that myself while walking to the parking lot after the feature last night. The WoO totally whooped ass this weekend and the Posse couldn't even crack the podium. It doesn't bother me one bit. The Posse vs. WoO shit is stupid. I just like good racing and last nights feature was very entertaining. Once Donny got the lead, he ran, but he couldnt hide. Sheldon was right there and had he been a little smoother, I think he may have been able to get around Donny but he just made too many mistakes and Donny kept it smooth and straight without missing a beat in traffic. Good to see Sheldon getting faster and I'd say after the last few weeks, Donny is back in form just at the right time. I think we're going to see him win more races than anyone on tour through the rest of the season and win another championship.

This is about the time when Schatz cranks it up a notch and makes that late charge that wins him titles.

This was a weekend that proved that all the social media and message board criticism of the Grove doesn’t mean anything. Both nights had huge crowds, Saturday looked like a Natty Open level crowd.

Agree.....no complaints from me. I thought the track was in great shape for both nights. I was so happy to see Williams Grove get two great crowds. They certainly needed it and it just goes to show that given decent weather, the Pa fans will come out in full support. For me, the atmosphere for the Outlaw weekends at Williams Grove is worth the price of admission. I love the whole outlaw vs posse mentality. It adds a nice twist to the show.

Longer than any other track the WoO runs on the face of the earth?

Just an educated guess..

Mark, Terre Haute in Indiana is one heck of a big track also, I'd be curious to hear stats on it....

West Virginia Motoe Speedway is also a very big track as is one in upstate NY who's name I forget, but I saw Sammy win there one night after winning at Syracuse earlier the same day....

MSPN,,,,,Are you thinking of Rolling Wheels Speedway in Elbridge NY? Bridgeport Speedway in New Jersey is also a true 5/8ths, although they recently built a smaller 3/8th's track inside the big one.

By chance was Ricky Warner there? He only lives about 20 miles from the track. Is'nt he still with the team working on development?

Thank you Sir, that is the track I was thinking of.  Like I said earlier, I caught the W of O double header with this being the 2nd show back in the early 90's.  It was the first of two times I saw Sammy win two shows in one night, Syracuse being the other.  He also won 2 Features at Bloomington, IN Steve's hometrack one night, what a night that was, lol....

True, which is why I like inversions...

I agree with the inversions.  Hate pill draws or heads up line ups.  Start the faster guys no better that 12th like they used to.

Yes probably the best track conditions all year at the Grove.  To fast, to tacky for the 69K.  Also shows that it does not like being in the pack.
