Sorry, but Posse doesn't count they race the same tracks week in and week out. So, then if you think Posse is a top 5, then shouldn't we ad Balog(although he isn't 50) from the IRA's? He wins all the time, but don't see his name mentioned...
A true winner is a guy who races MANY tracks all over the country, not just your home tracks. Just my $.02

I persoinally consider Tim a threat to win, as well as Dale, Lance, Sammy, Terry as a list of over the age of 50 drivers. The fact that Tim even went to California should be commended. I absolutely love this exchange of opinions because all of the drivers mentioned are not only competitive, but they're all damn good. Huge number of wins, track championships, series championships between all of them. I would not be willing to write any of them off anytime soon. Have a great day!!;

I respect that. I love this exchange of opinions as well, the fact that we can all take part in a "intense" (for lack of better term) debate means we are passionate about the sport! Just becuase I don't agree with you or some other people doesn't mean i'm right and you're wrong and likewise the other way. I absolutely commend Tim for going to the West Coast, I like Tim and love to see him win, but just personally don't think he's a threat everywhere. That's the great thing about this country, a person can say their opinion and not everyone has to agree!!

You are so right.....we are passionate about the sport. I likewise love a good debate and especially one that stays with an element of respect. Too many posts on hoseheads get ugly!!
Enjoy some racing this weekend Everyone!.......if mother nature gives us a break!

Over his career, Dewease has won 410 feature races in 8 states outside of Pa. Included in those wins is a victory in a weekly Knoxvile event from 13th starting spot. Has wins at 4 different tracks in Florida.

Ok, after yet another outlaw/posse/regional digression, let's go back to the original post:
Who would you say are the top 3 current sprint car racers that are 50 years or older?
"Current" is the key word which I would interpret as still winning currently - like this year.
Tim Shaffer - yep
Lance Dewease - yep
3rd one is a toss-up. I'm thinking it's either Terry McCarl or Sammy.
It's hard to win anywhere. Especially if you're getting mail from AARP. So "where" doesn't matter.
