I did a handful of articles for Flat Out back before I gave up the reporting and know the editor Justin Zoch and art director Martin DeFries so I still subscribe to that one. My son used to get Sprint & Midget and would give me his old issues but he has since gotten into other things besides racing and put his money elsewhere. In depth articles are interesting but I know a lot of drivers after doing the writing and found out more about the politics and drama than I really care to know.
These days I agree with my son's take on getting to involved in the politics. When I was writing I told him that he should come down in the pits with me and I would introduce him to some of the drivers. His reply was "no thanks dad, I think of Sprint Car drivers the same way I think of strippers. I like watching them do their thing but I don't want to get to know them". There's a lot of wisdom in that.

Received a letter the mail yesterday stating Spint Car & Midget magazine has new owners and a two year subscription is now $49.95 which is a $14.00 increase. Believe this a bad start and I and many of my racing friends will not renew, It was bad enough they downsized it a while back to look like a people magazine and now this stupid move. Good Luck I think you will be sorry

If they can not make a profit it will go the way of Open Wheel Mag and Speedsport Newa weekly paper. Open Wheel was the very best racing mag. ever and you see what happened.

Price is not a factor in my decision to retain or give up a subscription.
As mentioned, with instant news via technology, most printed media is quickly becoming obsolete.
How many of you even get the local newspaper anymore? I use to read race magazines front to back as soon
as they arrived, but most information is old news and repetitive to be honesst. AS an example, how many really care about a writers
predictions for XYZ race? I have stacks of magazines that will eventually find their way to a garage sale or recycle bin unless
there is something of sentimental value in one for me.

Re: Newspapers: My wife likes to read the paper. Because delivery had gotten so awful, she called to cancel it. They begged her not to and offered to split the price in half. She said split it in half again and it's a deal. We still get the paper about 4-6 times a week, but now at only 1/4th the cost. It's still overepriced.

I'm a tactile guy so I get the desire to pick up and read an actual paper. I love vinyl records for the same reason. But I also listen to music digitally. But that said I always joke with my father, who gets the paper daily, that he's reading a History Book, haha. In today's world I can literally get game stats, stories, scores, etc. during a sports game and the news on the fly as it happens. Again, it's just the world today, but I do still like the tactile feel of a paper and vinyl records too so I see both sides.
