Really? Will disagree. It's not a half either and they just reconfigured it and now it's .425 mile. Also, Devils Bowl has usually been a one groove track when tacky and sometimes not much better when it's slick. If you ain't hugging the tractor tires coming out of the turns you're probably gonna lose.
Personally I'll take Knoxville over Devils Bowl any day. Ain't been to Eldora, but I hope to one of these days.

Racing surface wise, in its prime (emphasis on IN ITS PRIME), I feel Hagerstown offered some of the best racing from a driver and fan perspective.
Attempting to be a voice of reason in a world full of
irrationality.

Sure thing dude, keep telling yourself that. If anything, you may be confused here. Maybe you're thinking about the other Devils Bowl in Vermont or Connecticut or wherever the hell it's at. You couldn't be talking about the Devils Bowl in Dallas where I go several times a year and watch freight train heat races and sometimes a freight train feature. I'll quote one of my friends who has been a champion in the limited modified class out there. "Huge race track, but most of the time you only race on about 10 feet of it". Of course I suppose he knows nothing too.

Is there really any argument for anything other than Knoxville? It hosts the biggest event of the year for a reason.

You confirmed your lack of credibility by trying to prove your point by quoting a limited modified driver.

Perris is a damn nice half mile. Home of the Budweiser Oval Nationals.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

You are entirely correct. I should realize that a modified driver who races at the track every week would know absolutely nothing about how racey the track is. My bad, but not everyone can have as much credibility as you getting on here and calling Devils Bowl a better 1/2 mile than Knoxville or Eldora...

I think people have differing opinions on what their personal favorite half mile is. I've only been to one "half" mile so far at Mansfield but will be adding Eldora on there for the Kings Royal this year. All I can say though the speeds at a half like Mansfield astounded me. I usually watch 1/3 mile tracks so watching Jac rip around there and hit lap traffic on the third lap of the feature was something else.

Last time I checked the modifieds and stock cars run on the exact same track that the sprints run on. But since we're on the subject, let's hear your reasoning as to why Devils Bowl is the best half mile. Dazzle us with your brilliance.

Yes, unless there is an invert (like at the Nationals), nearly all winged sprint car heats suck, plain and simple (unless it's a typical Eldora that is already dry slick in the heats). But the features at Devils Bowl always have been nothing short of amazing with may I have seen over the years won in the finaly 5 laps and several in the past few years on the final lap. Sure, T3 and T4 are boring as hell, but 1&2 has more action in one race than Knoxville has in a week. I know you're going to come back with some horseshit to try to cloud the facts. So be it....

IMO the best 1/2 mile tracks are always going be tracks that ARE LESS THAN 1/2 MILE!
wider surface / shorter straights = "less dirty air" and more opportunities for drivers to make moves
Selinsgrove (the local track that I am least likely to support) is rumored to be making changes in the near future...
if those changes include:
- smaller track config (3/8?) with wider racing surface
- all pits outside
- improved sight lines for fans
- less wait time in the pizza line for Donnie Kreitz / Chris Eash
I might give them a second look...
If the Grove take a similar aproch and moves the entry of 1/2 to the end of the FS grandstand and move the pit outside 1/2 I might have a heart attack...
look at the empy seats...never say never
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

You must only come to Knoxville during the Nationals.
Heat races have been outstanding the past few years at Knoxville (sure, you'll have a snoozer once in a while, but every track does) for the weekly shows
Heats won on last lap passes multiple times this year in all 3 sprint car classes and Brian Brown has won his 8 lap heat race from 6th twice and I beleive he ran 2nd from 6th the other heat race he ran.
But, I hate to use facts as an argument, so back to perception instead of reality with the next post.

I'll say 'never'.
Never gonna say the best racin' is on the big "halfs" but I still like them.
It's a shame the cars are starting to dictate the track and not the other way around.
If the rumors are true, I better get to Selinsgrove before they ruin it like Sharon
Your signature tells it all - Selinsgrove last on the list but likely the fastest....
Jus sayin'

I've watched one race from Knoxville live on the Cushion and all 3 classes had exhilirating heat races and feature events. It seems like most of the races have been thrillers this year so don't quite know where someone can say theres more action in two turns of a race than an entire week... But, to each there own. Everyone is allowed to have a track that they prefer like I said before. Just from my personal experience I watched the Devil's Bowl WoO race on dirtvision and the knoxville local show on the cushion. I'd go to knoxville weekly race any day of the week over devil's bowl WoO show just from the one race experience I have been exposed to.
