I read where Jac wants to come back tonight. How bad was that? Heading up soon!

That's pretty badass. I saw someone on twitter say get that guy a wheel barrow to haul around his manhood or something like that! Classic. Probably best he takes the night off. What a scary deal. Good all are ok!

Doesnt get much worse than a bunch of Ford stickers on chevies and running the bottom at Eldora. Might as well get a real job Tony.

Are they really taking the banking out of the track? They used to run with the RR right up against the wall.

A 360 is enough with no banking and no mousture but then again TSR wont run a 360 Ford either.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Maybe you should read his book somtime. There might be a few things in there that some of you Tony haters will not like.
|
I dont hate Tony.... I appreciate his contribution to dirt racing and respect him as a driver, owner, manager whatever you want to call it.
It is a fact though that he ruined Eldora for crapcar and for the life of me someone like Tony who loves sprints and loves dirt really ruined the mystique of eldora and the speed...... its to commercial there now and the track is shit IMO which im intitled to like everyone else on here and everywhere....... I have been dying to ask Tony himself why he did this to my used to be favorite place in the world to go visit.
I know people like diversity when they watch a race and i respect that but many people feel the same way i do about whats been done to that track is so shocking from what it used to be.
I myself prefer the track the way it was not this way...... i wonder also if he did so schatz could win a race there cause before he ruined the track schatz could not hit his ass there and thats a fact.... I have asked Dale blaney about it and he dont like it and said to me that anyone can win there now and its a shame that eldora tried fixing what wasn't broke
he first started messing the track up in 2007 and has ruined worse and worse every other year since then
if you will notice the wall looks as high as a privacy fence does and look at older pics of the track and its very noticable

Good point...I've never been to Eldora....The last Outlaw race I actually watched via PPV was several years ago and it doesn't really look any different to me....You're saying that the track hasn't really changed that much? You think the racing hasn't really much different?

I guess I'd like to know what the "old Eldora" is that people on the message board are referring to.

How many times have you seen 30 plus non wing cars hot lap and qualify before the WoO even hit the track? Tonight fast time was 2 tenths off the track record.

Sounds like a good surface for the 69K to make a trip in July for Wasn't watching at all, but was keeping up with my race monitor app and when I saw how fast the 1a in the heat, I thought it may be slick. When the 1s walked away, yea, it was.

I remember Lance getting beat by about a lap and a half by a Ford when it was up against the fence in the 90's but he would be right in the hunt now just like Greg Wilson and the Allens.

No advantage for someone to run high next 2 the wall. In the past if u were good enough and had the balls to run up there it was an advatage, now u would b a fool to run up there. Miss that.

The USAC show was a hill of a race right down to the checkered flag . The outlaw show was also a good race. I saw racing alll over the place. Low/High. Just what is it that some want ? Let me guess, O it's not Eldora unless your sliding the guy and bicycling off the wall. Stay home, i'm sure they can find someone to fill your seat.

Even Ballou after winning said "This is not the House that Earl Built".

okay i will stay home..... and by the pics of the crowd its a fact lots of people stayed home.
just because I loved the track the way it was does not make me the bad guy here.
the #letsracetwo was made that way cause neither woo or usac can fill the stands in a single event and apparently both combined cant fill the stands either anymore for a reason

May 12 first sprint car race of the season at Eldora?? Car counts are way down in the mods, stocks, late models...All the amenities are nice and the jumbo tron is awesome but the money being spent on fireworks could be spent on the purse for the different classes. The track surface has never been the same since Earl prepped it and the banking has been tamed down to the point where the bottom is the preferred line for the winged cars.. The 1s was so low he damn near hit the pit exit!! The entire business model has changed turning the place into a special events track instead of THE BIG E HOME OF THE SPRINTS!!

Pictures can be misleading at that place since its so big. Crowd was definitely strong last night. I'd say as big as they've ever had for that event yet.
Heres the thing as far as the track goes, IMO. Everybody is bitching about the Friday races because it was won on the bottom. Well Saturday they had it wetter and the groove was way higher up the track. And gues what? Friday's races were better.
My other opinion on this is on the argument about them taking banking away and now the top isn't the fast way anymore. I think it has more to do with how much more attention the track crew gives the bottom of the half of the track now compared to the Earl days. They are always tinkering with it and watering it to make it anther groove. Earl never messed with the bottom that much. I'd say sometimes they just go too far with the idea and it ends up being faster than the top.
All that said I'll the first to admit, it's way cooler when they're up on the wall leaning on a cushion. But I'm ok with a night like Friday if the racing is good, which I thought it was.

Eldora has 17k seats. No way any event other the Royal or World 100 has ever had that type of crowd. (Trucks excluded)
