Any pic will show that you get up to speed and the wing will compress and you see how much downforce is actually created. I have always been amazed that you don't see more side panels buckle.

Yep, this. Noticeable more on some cars because of different lettering and colorways on the center top wing (Don Kreitz even pointed this out on Twitter). The compression you'll notice mostly on straightaways at bigger tracks and in those instances the sideboards are "cutting through" the wind/windforce more hence why we see sideboards buckle but not too much. Once you hit corners (where sideboards do take more "cross windforce") speed is reduced especially at a paperclip like WG where I joke it's like sprinting, hitting a brick wall, sprinting, hitting a brick wall, etc.
Outside of the compression debate, ever notice how low the right sideboard on Don's car is (no this is not a conspiracy theory, just an observation). The top lip is damn near even with the wicker...
