I don't really consider this a Knoxville problem, but would like to see it happen EVERYWHERE! If I walk into an NHL hockey game, there is someone there looking at my ticket and ushering me to my seat. If I go to a MLB game, an usher will walk up to me and ask to see my family's tickets. Used to annoy me. After the last few years I have had at sprint car races, ushers bugging me to see my ticket would be a welcome sight!! Sick of getting to my seats and finding them full. Sick of it. Knoxville has actually not been much of a problem, though there is someone occasionally in my seats. Beaver Dam (the last 4 or 5 years) and the race at Rockford Speedway this year were a joke. People playing dumb acting like they didn't know where they were and then some flat out ignoring me when I informed them that they were in the seat I paid for. Was I a jerk about it? Got to be that way by the end. Sick of being nice about it. If you're in my seat when I get there, I'm gonna tell you that you're an idiot. No more "please" and "thank you".
Anyone have a solution to this?

Every week for longer than most of you are alive. Last 20 plus is a 185 one way trip and haven't missed a show in 2 or 3 years. Even drive over and get rained out with no complaints.
So what was the question?

Its really not an issue except during 410 Nationals when the stands are full. Then you are packed in like sardines in spots. Kudos to the track for seeing it and doing something about it.
I certainly wont give all the credit for the improvements over the past year at Knoxville to one person. But someone has obviously brought in some new insight that the board is listening too. Well done bye everyone involved. Looking forward to seeing what else they have up their sleeves.

I can say that this has been discussed for numerous years by the Fairboard.
These types of things can't be done overnight (and certainly not when there isn't a large amount of full-time staff).
It's a good move and it appears many more good moves are in the works in the years to come.

There is definatly more to the seating issues than just seat width.
Example: Lets say 2 guys already have seats and they have a buddy tag along. He buys some random seat and then just jams in the row to sit with his buddies. I bet this is going on more than people think.
Example: This happened in the row in front of me this year. A lady that was high on the Average Butt Width scale decided that her rather large purse/bag had to be on the seat beside her instead of on the floorboard. That row fought for space all night Saturday due to her lack of sense and respect.
Widening seats will help this out some but will not solve it completely.

Even a 3 foot seat wouldn't solve it completely b/c there will always be the self entitled who think they are owed more than what they paid for.
I look forward to the extra space, and thankfully, where I sit, it isn't a big deal, except when it's intermission or someone needs to pee or get food, then you do the little dance of standing up and leaning back or trying to coordinate everybody rotate the same direction at the same time.
I've been attending the races at Knoxville for 30 years now and this is appreciated. As others have mentioned Knoxville runs a tight show but this past season was exceptional no matter what other track you're comparing it too.
Keep up the good work!
Can we also put a giant roof over the track?

Great decision here. 21 year veteran of the Nationals and we buy two extra seats and still get squeezed by the corn fed folks (kidding) that think they're entitled to our seat space.
you are saving us money since we only need one extra ticket to sit in comfort.
great decision!

Sounds to me like between the normal amount of non-renewals and those who won't need to purchase an additional seat, that nobody will be displaced at all.
Win/Win!
Now, can you do something about the distance between rows and backrests so that I can have a reasonable amount of knee space?

Row 28 is the worst for knee room... I believe it is where the pitch changes when they made the the expansion...
Yes sir I had the seats in Row 28, Seats 1,2 & 3 for years and the knee room was NIL...

It seems to me that Knoxville re-numbered the seats once before. Maybe when the suites were installed. I don't remember if the seats were moved closer together. There are still 2 different numbers on each seat, one on the seat and one on the seat back.

Lot of people going to get bumped around and screwed out of seats they worked years to get. Took me a long time to get 4 on the aisle. Since mine are on the seat 35 end I am probably getting screwed.
Anybody have knowledge on how they will reseat?
