Just made the drive from Mechanicsburg PA to Dayton, Ohio yesterday. No construction to speak of from Washington PA (assume that's where you'd jump off 70 to go to Lernerville) all the way to and through Columbus. Ride safe and have fun everyone at the races s this weekend. Eldora for me. With the addition of the All Stars on Saturday, I can't miss that show.

I'll be doing that trip tomorrow, going to Eldora...
Well actually I'll probably take 99 SW to Pa. turnpike, done 81 too many times this summer
Leaves are starting to get pretty in New England now, looking forward to drive West thru Pa. hills after National Open....
How long did it take you? I'm leaving from Connecticut, gonna stretch it out over 2 days

I had my pit with me, so with a few stops to watch her stand there and just look at me, about eight hours. I hate that stretch from New Stanton to Wheeling though.
Safe travels.

Runnin30...if that's your route then yes you'll grab 22 headed into PA. Around Pittsburgh Airport/Robinson area you'll grab 376 East (we just simply call it the "Parkway") into the city. Best part of the ride might be when you come through the Fort Pitt tunnel. The city just explodes into your lap. It's pretty neat. When you're on the Fort Pitt Bridge you'll take 279 N which you'll only be on for a mile or so before picking up 28 North and following it North to Exit 17 which is Lernerville's Exit (make right off exit onto 356 and go about 5 miles to the track). Once you get out of the city area on 28 North it's a nice scenic-ish ride.
- If you have time or are feeling up to it, you can get off Fort Pitt Bridge and go the "Strip District" and hit up the original Primanti Brothers (google it). The Strip is a pretty cool area with food, bars, old school shops, etc. (it has nothing to do with actual, you know, Strip joints). If not there is a Primanti Brothers literally right off of 28N at the Harmarville Exit (you can see it from 28). - There is a Pirates game Saturday but it's at night and assuming you're rolling through afternoon, you should be fine. There's an afternoon game Sunday (1:35). Might be something to check out even if you're not a baseball fan, PNC Park is consistently rated the #1 Baseball Park in the country.
- You can set up a tent right at Lernerville. If you're looking at the track from the parking lot keep going Left. The parking areas to the far left are grassy and "field like," which would work to set up tents. There's also a football field next to the parking to the left.
- I'll be at the track Saturday mixing spectating and "work" (we're a top tier track sponsor as well as sponsoring Carl Bowser, so I'll be doing some simple social media stuff). Stop by Carl Bowser's hauler if you see a younger guy with his right leg and full left arm tattoo'd (that's me, easiest way to spot me) and say "hi." I can give you addiitonal tips or show you around the track a bit. Turner's Tea will be on me

Pretty cool that you're with Turner's! They do a lot for Carl and Lernerville. Stop in the tower some time and say hi, I do all of the computer scoring up there haha

I'm at a motel in New Stanton as we speak... why do you hate that stretch so much? No more tolls!

Tyler, I think we've crossed paths. I'll stop up sometime, maybe next year. I see Big E and Tyler Q more since they're in Press Box (which I'm usually not, since I just bother Carl all night).

The best is that you can say you "went through" West Virginia on your way to Ohio...you're in and out of WV in what 10-15 minutes. It's like 15 miles. I always joked with people when going west that I had to go through x number of states and include WV in that count since technically I did "cross" WV...they don't have to know it's the tip of the state.

I drive to the East Coast from Denver & back every summer. After 600 miles of flat & boring Kansas (including Colorado plains), when I hit the foothills of Appalachia around Zanesville, Ohio, I'm in 7th heaven.
Leaves are starting to get pretty at my Mom's in Connecticut, seems like a week or so behind in Pa. Hoping they start to turn when I drive back after WG National Open

i was wondering why no comments on all three races on the same day?? Too bad Tony,Woo and Lincoln couldn't of worked something out and had a big field of cars for all three events. Seems to me that Lernerville is going to be the low man on the pole when it comes to car count.

Just narrow, slower speed limits, plus it's usually where I hit construction.
Tomorrow I'll be sitting by myself on the top row of the grandstands in turn three at Eldora. I'm a "big boned" guy and I'll have a BC shirt on. Plus, I'll be in a blue lawn chair earlier in the day at Little E watching the quarter midgets. Stop by and say hi if you get the chance.

All things considered, I think the car counts were pretty decent. I was at Lernerville and there were 35 cars and while I do not have the exact numbers handy for Lincoln and Eldora, I think each were at least 35. While I wish there was a greater effort to coordinate the schedules, you do have to take into consideration the end of the year specials going on, (4 crown and dirt classic) as well as the traveling issue with the WOO. Still, it would have been great to have one less race that night to push the potential car counts to 45, 50 and possibly beyond for 2 races.
There is a couple of other ways of looking at this as well and that is the opportunities for the drivers to do less travel. With more races it also gave more fans an opportunity to see some quality races even with fewer cars. And lastly, and more importantly, it gave drivers and opportunity to make more more with the bigger purse races.

Lincoln had 48. Would be nice if there was more thought put into scheduling all 3 events next year.
