Not sure how this will play out, but judging by the WoO car count in Nebraska last night, doesn't appear the "travelers" that came for Nationals stuck around the extra week for the Gold Cup race.
Hope they get at least 27-28, but the Non-Wing car count would be the one I think will be 20 or less (outside of TK and Dobmeier, who local will take the wing off?), as USAC just doesn't have enough followers of the tour full-time and have Silver Crown scheduled in Illinois on the 20th as well (that is the prelim night for the non-wing - drivers are forced to choose which USAC event to support (one of those "head scratchers" that USAC seems to do to shoot themselves in the foot from time to time).
As a race fan, I hope the event is successful, we need MORE events, not less.

There is a local limited spec engine, non-wing group, the Heartland Racing Association that will probably be able to add 6-8 cars to the field. I don't forsee them running much up front.

Looks like there are now 20 non-wing cars registered as of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
According to USAC, at least Brady Bacon, C.J. Leary and Chris Windom will race the Silver Crown event in Illinois and then jet to South Dakota for the Gold Cup. It's interesting that Bacon is registered for both Gold Cup classes, so he'll technically be in 5 races in 3 days in 2 (very seperated) states.

Are you for real or being sarcastic.
TRUE late models can't even get more than two wide at Huset's. Lucky for them that Brown County's not racing or the count for lates wouldn't amount to a hill of beans.
No matter, this is sprint country, no one cares about lates and as I said above, the track is too small to put on a TRUE late model show.

LMs seem too big for that track.

Maybe offer a $1000 to win Sport Compact with $400 tow money for each team. Of course it will cost the teams $100 per person for a pit pass.

Sad that the car count is so BAD that thay have add late models to a sprint car show. In the small print they had the purse set on a certain amount of cars having to be there. It definately looks like they won't get close to that number that they had for a $250,000 purse. The big question is are they still going to pay it? Or will the cars get there this weekend and be informed that the payout has been cut. (Just wondering it is a legitamate question since they said the payout was basedon a car count.) Glen Murra

Hi Glen,
Badlands posted this on Facebook several days ago:
To put to rest some rumors. THE PAYOUT WE HAVE LISTED HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CAR COUNT. EVERYTHING IS BEING PAID OUT. We simply built the original payout assuming we'd have 64 winged cars and 50 non wing cars. There is no minimum, no maximum car count. This is the Inaugural Gold Cup, and we had to build a payout system and had to start somewhere. This is all guaranteed money.

Why in the hell would any sprint car fan or team member want to go to a friggin pawn shop to watch a "house band'?
Vendor fee to sell shirts?
See this tool is set to always get your $.
I bet the fallout from problems this weekend will be a great read on Monday.
I tell it like I see it.

Not too defend Chuck, but EVERY track charges a vendor fee generally (including Knoxville).

Commen sense would say:
Meet and Greet with the drivers. In town where population is.
"House Band" is pretty darn good.
And guess what..... If people don't want to attend they don't have to.

I hope it's a success, as we need more $50k to win races, not less. Especially in non-winged sprints.

No matter how it goes you will be spewing negativity as soon as the last checkered flag is dropped. But of course all your info will be second hand.
