More then likely the show will move fast as possible , as the drivers have to get out to Knoxville . Some may try to run in the Sunday night race , The Capitani Classic prelim. race . to get more track time and earnings .

Robert,  could you please talk to your friends that run Port Royal speedway? Ask them if they can lower the GA to $20 for me, the fan. Darn, for $27 I certainly hope they are giving me some type of gift for attending. Port really needs to consider the fans when price gouging to make a dreamy purse. This is nothing but a regular Posse show at Port with the word "Dream" in the name, Hooray!

This is a far cry from a regular Posse show. It isn't very often you get all the top stars from PA at the same place other than an Outlaw show, which includes Stevie and Lance. Three feature events for the sprint cars and a real nice purse for super late models. A two division show with 4 great purses, with a fantastic viewing option from anywhere inside the joint.

I love the Tuscarora 50, one of my favorite races of the year but for whatever reason, the dream race just doesn't excite me. Not the same atmosphere, way less cars with no all-stars and a couple top locals already out west. The first one that paid 30G to win and 1G to qualify was great, but now it's just a bigger paying regular show with a different format. I have no idea why it's $27 to get in with no sanction fees.

I do think it's cool that the speedway uses this race to honor past drivers and owners though. Port is always good at paying respect to the past and keeping local sprint car history alive.

The timing of this race keeps it from being truly special. When your top guys want to get out asap to get to Iowa, the atmosphere will definitely suffer.

Don't crucify me if I am wrong on this because I an not going to spend a lot time research ing it but, I believe that the Dream race started a year before the the Iron Man race. It was intended to get bigger than the original $30,000 to to win but the race teams that it was to benefit and bitching  fans didn"t give it enough support for it to grow. I do think that present format is one of the best around for a special race. Every time a car is on the track they have reason to be as fast as possibe and to pass the car in front of them both for money and a better starting position in the feature.

Go to Williamsgrove any Friday and you can see the same cars. This is a regular Port show with Stevie and Lance, if that makes it special and worth $27 , you need to get to more races. The rest of the B.S. nostalgia stuff is nice but certainly dosnt make it a "Special" race worth a premium admission. Other than Stevie and Lance, what makes this race special?

I would rather them run heat races 10 laps in distance.  You can still pay the drivers in the heat races.  You don't need to run semi features in order to pay the drivers.  You can also use passing points in the heats to line up for the feature.  I hate the two semi features format along with the big long delay for the cermonies.  I respect the people that are being honored, but I am not there for that I am there to see racing on the track.  Cut it to 10 to 15 minutes instead of the 45 minutes to an hour for this portion.

I was just on Brian Montieths website.... it looks like he isn't coming.  Is Freddie Rahmer coming?

I have nothing to do with setting the format but I like it and don't give two shits what anybody else thinks of it. Especialy people who aren't going no matter what they run. Half the cars on the the track each semi fighting for every position because it moves them up row to start the feature has made some good racing.

Three reason I will not be at the Port tonight.  1. $20.00 show for $27.00 2. The format stinks!  3. Too long of a cermony for the honorees!  Run heats and use pasing points to line up for the feature.  Or better yet don't run time trials at all and run everyone in two heats totally inverting the second heat and scrap the semi's already!  The car with the most points starts up front and follow that all the way back through the field.

Port has excellent racing, excellent facilities, and  for my money is the best place to watch a race in Pa, but this Dream race makes no sense. I'm sure it will be packed and everyone will enjoy it and at the end of the day that is all that really matters. Happy racing everyone, Im headed to Pennsylvania's only 360 track, the other Grove, Selinsgrove!

When Port posted this on 8-3-16 I ROFLA, because I knew they were not going to get 40 cars!

Thanks to tremendous support of this year's Dream Race by sponsors, for the first time in history, the first 40 sprint car drivers who enter this Saturday's Dream are guaranteed TWO PRIZES!

Yeah, this seems to be a dying race.  Tuscarora 50 is still the best, and I'd say the Weikert Memorial has been second best.  Just not the atmosphere anymore, and the car counts seem to dwindle.  They need to pay a grand to start the race to get the other guys to support it.  Then it might be worth $27.  As other have said, it was basically a regular Saturday night show plus Stevie and Lance.

Sorry Rev, you are right. Hell, I'm already old, I just like to pretend I'm young, lol.

Hell, I feel like a 12 yr. old stuck in a 65 yr. old body... cool part is I have a car!

Dual knee replacements have given me a new lease on life tho. Basketball injuries, right knee 1977 & left 1986. Replaced 'em both on the same day in 2014, no more pain. We're lucky to live in the age of modern medicine!!!!

Dual features were pretty much follow the leader, but Final had a good back & forth duel between Stevie Smith & Lance. I was satisfied.

I was ready to leave after Sprinters but my friend wanted to say for LM Final, good move, competitive race

I haven't been to Port for 2 or 3 yrs., had forgotten what a beautiful drive it is from Harrisburg

.... if you don't think I'm older, just ask anyone that knows me. I have a serious case of the Birthday disease.

Feel free to pull, old timer! Smile
