I will try not to type 10,000 words on this subject.

For years in the Sioux Falls area all I heard was endless bitching about track owners taking from the fans and racers and not putting anything back into it and essentially this is true. Now we have a track owner/promoter who is pumping TONS of money into racing paying great purses to all classes of racers (What other track has $500 to win $100 to start hobby stocks?) and people want to bitch about THAT?

Last summer as a Sioux Falls fan if I went to the races Saturday and Sunday I paid $11 to go to Hartford and the headline class was four 305 sprints and then $15 to go to Husets where the headline class was 410's with 16 cars total, about 8 410s and 8 360s. Last Saturday and Sunday for FREE I went Saturday for a show with 37 410's and Sunday for a show with 30 360's. People want to bitch about THAT?

Yes the costs of fuel, pit passes is the same for all racers. As of now they have had 3 race nights where pit passes were FREE, the same for Mark Dobmeier and Jack Croaker. The travel assistance program pays the same for all 410's same for Mark Dobmeier as it is for Jack Croaker. People want to bitch about THAT?

I could not have imagined the Sioux Falls racing scene would be in this good of shape just 2 years ago, it was on a continuous death spiral that would have killed it off fairly quickly. Thanks to Brennan/Badlands racing in this area seems to be in very good shape.

The other thing I dont get is people crying about the closing of Hartford. That place was a colossal shithole with no cars and empty , rotting, falling apart bleachers. If it was running who in their right mind would have gone there last Saturday for that joke instead of Badlands for free for 37 410s. The closing of Hartford Shithole good riddance, people want to bitch about THAT?

I understand the pissed off people from Central Iowa. If I was a Knoxville regular and T-Mac, Zomer, Jeffrey, Kaeding, Henderson, Martin, etc weren't there yes I would be pissed off too. But someone has to give some credit to Badlands for making this happen. In the 1970's and 1980's when Knoxville was competing against Burlington, Granite City, Jackson and other places for cars and eventually those places all got rid of the top class of sprints were people pissing and moaning about Knoxville? Obviously this was pre internet age so it wasnt there. Just asking if fans from Burlington, Granite City, Jackson and other places were saying "Fuck Knoxville they are the reason I cannot watch sprints at my local track, I am never going there again"?

Still standing by for the train wreck that IS going to come.... The guy is a a thief. Pay day loans and pawn shops are just as bad as lawyers and fine print. Anyone that prays off of the uneducated easy marks is an ass in my book. Sure he can throw around the money he stole for a bit but it is gonna stop eventually.

its about as bad as paying over 300% for a beer isnt it!

Come on guys I know we can push this to another 6 pages of the same stuff. Lets start another thread about this topic.

On a bright note there's a chance that Kyle Larson, Dave Blaney, Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, and Rico and a couple of others will all be at the Knoxville Nationals this year.

Agree with you on your post; huge changes in car counts from years past. We made our first ever visit to Badlands last weekend and were impressed as hell of the facilities. We had never been there before when it was Husets as we're from out of state. Can't say much for the Hartford track; was never there either but hear you loud and clear on "shithole tracks", we have some of them from where we're from. Hope to make it back to Badlands this year. Competition is good folks, be pissed off all you want about this situation but at the end of the day competition is good.

As someone that grew up in Knoxville the only thing that bothered me was Chuck's comments about Knoxville. Them racing on Saturday is good for them. I don't see how it wouldn't be. Increased pay for drivers also a good thing. The only problem i see is if he eventually walks away and says screw everyone. Then the drivers lose. That i am not ok with. We raced IMCA modifieds for 15 years. We saw it here with Boone and Webster City. Webster City jacked up their purses to draw cars away from Boone. Now the purse is down (not where it used to be but still down). As a driver i saw that as them saying now that we got you here we aren't going to pay you like we used to. Thats the only issue i hope never comes up. As a fan i haven't missed those guys that decided to run there. If they didn't run the nationals then i would miss them, but every driver should get a choice to race close to home. I just hope it draws new blood in. It should, but sometimes people don't buy in. If i had the means to have a sprintcar i would have one. I mean why not its an opportunity to learn and make the feature and pay some expenses.

I just realized a couple days ago that NASCAR has an off weekend during the Nationals. The prospect of seeing the drivers you mentioned is definitely exciting. Then I quickly realized that the 15 motorhome sites that Nascar is requesting of the fairgrounds will likely put my space in serious jeopardy. Oh well, the life of an average Joe. Still exciting though. I'd shit my sweat soaked chonies if Kyle Larson (or any of the names you mentioned) won the Knoxville Nationals.

Why does there always have to be a "devil" in sprint car racing to some of you guys?

First it was Guy Webb, then Tyler Walker, now Chuck Brennan.

So what if he takes a little dig at Knoxville? - he's a promoter, and that's what he was doing. I thought it was kinda funny.

Oh, and TRUMP2016!

devil know but 1 st off Webb didn't pay his bills, even the guy that raced for him will say the same thing. Tyler really a kid with more going for him then most ,kick out of nascar for life, all the problems he has had. But it's great to see him get one more shot. And chuck he started all this, day 1 he came after Knoxville why? Have you seen his 1 st press meeting on you tube?

1st off I'm not any shake-bake? I'm just a fan of sprint car racing that had to spend alittle time in Iraq, came home with a bullet in my head, Yes things get alittle mixed up on paper but I'm ok in the mind, been sprint car racing since 1963 seen all this 100 times before. But for the 1st time now I've seen hate from fans? that's new, people used to call race fans one big family? That's changed I see? Seems there's alot more mixed up then car counts and racing maps. Anyway this handy caped fan has had the shirt kicked out of him for the last time, good luck shake and bake? This must be the playground for the fans I've not meet around the race tracks I've been to.knoxville ascot, manzy, but I do see the fans are changing like the promoters they value.

the nerve of a scoreboard to include information that is readily available on the web, twitter or elsewhere.

can the butthurt crowd from the midwest accept that "growing the sport" MEANS more opportunities to QUALIFY and RACE for a DECENT PURSE?

you tried "growing the sport" by building the DNQ ranks at (1) Sat night track within a mindblowing 300 miles for several decades now and look at where it got you?

be thankful wise businessmen like yourselves did not buy Badlands...you would have "grown the sport" by closing the place out of "respect for tradition".

Pretty spot on.

Tired of people bitching about Chuck.  Who gives a shit what he says or implies.  Purses are up, counts are up (here), and things look positive in this area.  If that affected your area, sorry.  Tod has something to do with that as well by having the NSL at Jackson on Fridays.  As far as I'm concerned, this could be the new hotbed of 410 sprint car racing in a few years if purses stay up like this, and more money keeps coming into the sport!

My father was an infantry soldier in the Korean War.  He got shot in the thigh and carried a sniper's slug in him for 30 years. He was classified as being 10% disabled, and got $87 a month from the VA. For the rest of his life walked  with a limp.  He never played the victim game.  He also had a sense of humor.  I highly reccomend getting one.

I don't see how Chuck has grown the sport in the Midwest, maybe I'll have to wait till next season to see. But so far this year I haven't seen any new cars come to the area or new teams pop up either. The biggest issue with the Sunday night racing was they ran 14 classes with 7 of them being door bangers that had 45 cautions in a 12 lap race. What would truley grow the sport is a 3 track series start on Friday and end on Sunday. Start on 1 end and finish on the other yes Knoxville no matter what end they are on would no longer be able to race on Saturday. If you could get all 3 tracks to run together and have a point fund you have the great possibility of guys like hodnett, Dietrich, Loyet etc making homes in the Midwest. And truly grow the sport in the Midwest!
