This was my second year of attending the Indianapolis 500 and I loved every minute of it. I made a nice road trip out of it by going to Bloomington on Friday night, Legends Day at IMS and the Little 500 at Anderson on Saturday night, then Indy and Kokomo on Sunday.

I was very excited to see Rossi pull off the win at Indy. The guy literally had no idea where his career was going at the beginning of the year after his Formula 1 ride was bought out from under him by an Indonesian driver with the back of his country. Rossi came to IndyCar and showed great speed the whole month, which was very impressive considering this was only his second oval race of his entire career. Him getting an extra 15 miles out of his fuel tank was an amazing feat of smart driving (and smart race strategy by Bryan Herta) and watching him coast to the end was full of supsense and excitement.

Really, the best race out of the whole weekend for me was probably the Little 500. It was my second year attending that race as well and it is a few hours of pure excitement. Seeing sprint cars do an endurance race is a sight everyone should see because it's literally a flatout sprint car race for 500 laps. The competition level is very high and the leaders are constantly battling with each other and lapped traffic and so many little things can have a huge impact on the race. It feels like anything can (and sometimes does) happen. And the 33 car, 3-wide start will send chills up the spine and place a big smile on your face.

How was the crowd friday if you were there? also I saw a few empty seats on a turn; were they empty for safely reasons?

Only sunday for me. There are not any seats closed for safety that I know of. I think the ticket brokers bought up the last of the tickets making it a sellout and maybe they didn't unload them all. There was lots of scalpers holding fistfulls of tickets half hour before race time still. And there did not seem to be the usual number of people looking for tickets probably because of the news it was soldout.

For more than a few of us seeing that iconic #98 with Curb/Agajanian on the rear wing (they made that second car possible for Andretti) was sweet. Also seeing a real racer, Bryan Clauson, at the brickyard wasn't bad either. I was born in Beechgrove just a few miles from the track, so the 500 is always the big one for me no matter how hard they try to screw it up.

I did not see the Indy 500 mile race. Instead, I saw the Indy 500 Commercials. This year was the worst yet - on split screen, you see one car pass another, but the commentary is the commercial. As a result, I did not know who passed who. As a sprint car fan, I like to see drivers race hard for the win, not "put-put" saving fuel. The racing up front was great, and I enjoyed it (when it was on full screen).

Looked up some video and yep there is an empty area on the south end between turn 1 and 2. Makes it look not so sold out. Though thats probably less than 1000 seats in an area where you cannot see much.

In and out was no different maybe even easier than usual. With the record crowd they did a great job getting people in and out. We stay for a few post race interviews then a short post race tailgate to let traffic thin. probably left parking lot 2 hrs after race end and spent maybe 30 min in traffic before open freeway. Made it to Kokomo before hot laps were done. All pretty normal.

I thought it was a very exciting race. In past years there has always been patches of unused seats in the stands. Not this year. It definately did look sold out. The amount of people that stayed after for the post race winners parade lap was awesome. The electronic number box showing the cars position was helpful though hard to read at speed.

I sat in turn 3. It was my very first Indy 500. Had to make it happen for the 100th running. It didnt disappoint. I had a GREAT time! The electricity in the air is just insane. To answer the question on getting out. We stayed for the interfview with Alexander Rossi and then left. We sat in turn 3 and parked about a mile north of turn 4 (just past the large field people park in). We timed it from the time we left our seats to the time we got on hwy 65. It was 1 hour and 2 minutes. That time included the walk out of IMS, and the walk to our car. Made it to Kokomo just before 6pm

Three of us set in grandstad G in turn two.  I thought the race was excellent, lot of big moves in turn 1 & 2 and  have a choice of looking at 3 video screens in front of us so we get to see the "whole track."  This was the first time in 5 years were the section was packed.  There was a section between 1 & 2 where the yellow shirts were not letting anyone sit there.  People sat there in the past so I think it might have to with a ticket screw up, like tickets lost in the mail or possible stolen.  We parked in Speedway, one block off of 16th street just below the railroad bridge near the bar on 16th street.  We were in our car within 15 minutes and that is with me walking with a cane and we were on our way to Eldora, stoped twice for food and "relief" and once for directions and were there before 7:00.  Got home to Philadelphia area by 9:00 am on Monday.  Had a great time, Terre Haute on Wednesday, Indy State Fairgrounds on Thursday, Bloomington on Friday, were going to go to Lincoln Park on Saturday, but we were worried about rain so we went to the Speedrome for the 1 hr Figure 8 race which was crazy as all get out, thought about Kokomo, but Eldora is closer to home.  All in all good racing, good times with good friends, can't wait until next year
