MORE TRACK WORK UNDERWAY...live shot from this afternoon at LoneStar Speedway near Kilgore, Texas.

ACTION FIRES UP IN FEBRUARY with the running of the 2nd Annual SPRINT SMACKDOWN on Saturday, February 13th.

This will also be the SEASON OPENER for all the LoneStar Speedway points divisions...Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Limited Modifieds & FWD 4-Cylinders.

Complete event details will be posted within the next couple of days, both here and at LoneStarSpeedway.com

For a taste of the 2015 LoneStar Sprint Smackdown, please click here: https://youtu.be/ikh7XAxpRzg video notes: make sure to watch full-screen, H/D if you can, as you can really see a lot more detail, as I had the video image pulled back so you could see more of the track. Also make sure to read the posted video notes, as in this case - the race is never over til it's over...and then sometimes it's still not over!

Also, a pre-season practice (for any oval dirt track divison race car) is set for Sunday, February 7th from Noon-4pm. Drivers can also register their cars for the season at both events.

On Saturday May 21st will be the annual 'For the Love of Alex, Stop Texting and Driving' event at LoneStar Speedway, featuring special racing purse and much more. Details will be forthcoming soon.

Off-season track reconfiguration notes:

The track is now 70-75' all the way around. It's hard to get perspective in a picture like this, but you can see that the straights on the 1/3 mile track are now even more banked than they were and the corner entrances are banked more allowing lower corner entry. More clay continues to be brought in and incorporated into the surface. This is around the 4th-5th time fresh clay has been brought in the past few seasons.
