APRIL 16, 2015... This Saturday, April 18th, history will be made for the second time as the Amsoil USAC/CRA and World of Outlaws Sprint Cars will share the spotlight at Perris Auto Speedway. Also featuring the PAS Senior Sprints, the “So-Cal Showdown” is also a "Power of Purple Night" Benefiting the City of Perris Relay For Life and The American Cancer Society. Last season, “The Demon” Damion Gardner nearly swept the event by posting second fast time, winning his heat race, and claiming the 30-lap main event. For Gardner, the race was his third of eleven victories on the year as he earned his third series championship. As this writing goes to press, “The Demon” leads all drivers with 32 USAC/CRA victories at Perris Auto Speedway and Nic Faas holds the 1-lap track record of 15.833, set on February 25, 2012.

NOTICE TO COMPETITORS: Per USAC/CRA rules, all fuel-injected 410 and 360 powered sprint cars must run the Hoosier 105/16 Medium Right Rear Tire and all four corners must be Hoosier. Cars must pass a tech inspection and one-way radios are mandatory for drivers. USAC/CRA charges a $25 entry fee to all competitors and the series rule book can be found online at www.usacracing.com.

Heading into the “So-Cal Showdown,” Mike Spencer of Temecula sits atop the USAC/CRA point standings. Piloting Ron Chaffin’s #50 Grubstake Mini Storage / Madera Produce Maxim, Spencer claimed third in the March 21st finale of Tucson’s “Copper on Dirt.” Holding a four point advantage, the five-time champion has two Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Awards and three top-10 finishes on the season. Tied with “The Kruser” Cory Kruseman for second on the all-time USAC/CRA win list, Mike will be looking to score his 36th triumph on Saturday.

After winning his second “Copper on Dirt,” Concord’s “The Demon” Damion Gardner has climbed to second in the point chase. Driving Mark Alexander's #4 Scott Sales Company / Weld Racing Spike, Gardner has also posted two heat race victories, three top-10 finishes, and 16 feature laps led to his credit. At Perris, Damion will have his sights on gaining valuable points by claiming his 59th career USAC/CRA feature.

Matt Mitchell of Yorba Linda sits third in the chase for the championship. Racing his #37 Campbell Bros. Storage / Pit Boss Jacks Maxim, Mitchell charged from fifteenth to score fourth in the “Copper on Dirt” finale. To date, the USAC West Coast Sprint Car Champion has one heat race victory, three top-10 finishes, and 7 feature laps led in the campaign. Currently tied with Levi Jones, Bud Kaeding, and Blake Miller for 13th on USAC/CRA’s win list, Matt will be looking for his 7th main event win.

Anaheim’s Jake Swanson has climbed to fourth in the point standings. Piloting Tom and Laurie Sertich’s #92 Huntington Beach Glass & Mirror / Ram-Bull Racing Victory, Swanson claimed eighth at Tucson’s USA Raceway. Returning to USAC/CRA’s “home track,” the 2012 Rookie of the Year has three top-10 finishes in the season. This Saturday, Jake will have his sights on making the “So-Cal Showdown” his first series victory.

Brady Bacon of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma is fifth in the USAC/CRA point standings. Driving Keith Ford’s #73 Berry Pack / King Racing Products Spike, Bacon won the opening night of the “Copper on Dirt” and charged from twentieth to second in the finale.
