I was a bit disappointed in the A Main. Hoping for a wild charge from the back row, Rico & Golobic made good runs but crashed, as did TK. Gravel & Hirst, who were hot on qualifying nites, passed a few cars early & couldn't make much more progress.

Oh well, interesting trip anyway...

My mistake... Hirst was making a good run towards the end, but not enough....

Can anyone tell me what happened when Rico was pulling someone from their car?? All I have seen is the picture of him pulling someone from their car, and havent seen or heard anything about it.

The car in front (I forget who) wrecked & collected Rico, & briefly caught fire. Rico jumped out of his car & pulled the guy out. Fans absolutedly loved him for it. Then he walked across the infield back to the pits by himself. It was kind of touching, like the kid walking home after losing his Little League game

TK was the one who crashed out in front of Rico, then an oil fire flared up, briefly, but the way the car was laying and the wing smashed down, it made a quick exit from the car more difficult to do. Golobic lost a rear end while he was racing inside the top 10 around lap 37. Crockett was the only one who moved up with a shot at the overall points in the final laps, but the passing was at a mimimum after the last restart.

The wing wasn't even attached to the car and was laying further up the track.  Looked more like TK was having trouble unlatching or getting the wheel off, but it wasn't a smashed wing problem.

never looked at the video because I was there but was a fire extinguisher even used? Rico is one step below a saint online for helping Kaeding out but damn, he was right on scene already. Would like to think anyone on that situation would have done the same thing as Allard proved. He was there too. Plus, if fire was indeed the problem, why would you roll him to the bottom of the banking right where all the fuel which wasn't spilled would have collected? Rico tried to help and good for him but let's not give the guy a Medal of Honor just yet.

You are an idiot first off Floyd! You think Rico threw him on the ground? Give the kid some credit for reacting the way he did in that situation. What would you have done you fucking idiot?

Exactly. Rico took a chance & did the right thing.

Nobody's giving him a Medal of Honor, just a well earned ovation.

He had no idea if the car might catch fire again

Way to go LIttle Big Man!

First of all, I think I'd log onto Hoseheads and call people names who didn't join in with the massive sucking of Abreu for getting out of his junked car and hurrying TK up to get out of his car. I gave him full credit for doing what he did. I just think anyone in that situation would have done the same thing. Allard was there on scene too. No one is congratulating him.

Does anybody have a guess or a solid number on how many that damned hump in turn 1 collected. Sure tore up a lot of equipment. I noticed some went above and stayed on the high side and others would drop down low.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

I stand corrected. From my low angle, i didnt see the wing behind the car up the track.

All in all, the Racing was very good. The finish Friday was insane. After all the Trophy Cups I have seen though, how in the world is it possible a guy can start 6th and win it all. That was an absolute Joke in my opinion. He deserved the race win hands down. From a normal format, Roger Crocket Should have won the overall with Mason and Hirst very close behind. The car that passes the most cars usually wins, especially when they start in the back 2 rows. Crocket advanced more then anyone else aside from being 4th going into the main. The car 19th in points has never had a shot before and with the competition what it is today that just isnt right. Plus add the fact of the rubber race track, there was no hope for the back few rows to win it. Hopefully they fix the format for next year. I am not upset at the event, it was great racing all 3 days and like the addition of thursday but I only feel the deserving car did not get the Trophy this year for the first time since I have been going. (Back to san jose!) Maybe they should give passing points or add the 3 days together for the Overall.

The problem was the flawed format. Because they took a drivers best night of their first 2 nights of racing instead of counting both nights it log jammed the points. Crockett who started the main 21st was 4th in points with 295 Croft who started the main 6th had 276. In prior years the gap in points between these two starting positions would have been a least twice as much. This means if Croft passes no one Crockett has to pass 11 cars to catch him. They could have corrected this had they dropped the points in the A main 2 points per position. Crockett would have then and should have been champion. Croft who on Thurday qualified 8th then crashed out of the B & Friday qualified 19th then ran 12th in the A main got to start Saturdays A main 6th pass the semi transfer cars and take home the big prize.

When driving home Sat night after the race I realized this same problem.  I hope it is fixed for next years race. Not to take anything away from Croft , but he didn't deserve that win as he only passed 5 cars. Crockett passes 14 or 15 cars and had more points going into the race.Crockett not winning is a shame he deserved it.

Crockett passed more than that if you take into consideration he brought out the first yellow of the race. I know we don't, but he drove the wheels off that car in the feature. - Ron

Yea, I think they should combine points for all 3 nites, at least for the final payoff. Maybe take best qualifying nite to get into Saturday A?  but what do I know....

What I realized is that even with format putting fast cars in back, it still depends on track conditions for them to pass.
