I spoke with Johnny Gibson last year and he said that Dirtvision was/is working on getting an FM transmitter so that the fans at the track can hear him with headsets. I was wondering if this has been completed yet? Is there any way to hear Johnny's call while at the track?
Thanks!

It's actually not an FM transmitter, but a transmitter that works with the same Raceiver radios that the drivers use (different frequency, of course). Still in the process of getting the system up and running. You'll be able to purchase the Raceiver radios at the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series souvenir trailer.

Thank you Johnny! The system will not be ready for I-96 or Kokomo is that correct?

Any updates on the FM broadcasts at the tracks?
I tell it like I see it.

Pretty cool idea. May sound like a stupid question Johnny but once someone buys them, will they be told the frequency to listen to before the race, or do they have to kind of figure it out?

We're going to be "testing" the system this weekend. (The test was planned for Kokomo tonight, but. . .
Not 100% sure of all the details (I'll basically just have to plug the transmitter into my sound board and make sure the antenna is connected), but I would have to think the monitor will come with the correct frequency either pre-programmed or at least listed. (I actually BELIEVE you'll be able to switch over and hear the officials talking to the drivers as well).

Thank you Johnny for chiming in here. Will we be forced to rent or buy a Raceceiver at the track? I have access to a scanner that I could program myself if the frequency information was simply made available to the fans at the racetrack.

I BELIEVE you should be able to use your scanner, but I'll try to get confirmation.

Johnny, I'll be at Lakeside Saturday night, and I have my own Raceceiver. Will you be announcing the frequency that you'll be on as well as the race officials? I know most tracks use the generic 454.0000 but I don't know if the Outlaws have a different frequency that they use.

I would assume any FM reciever will pick it up. We just need the frequency or scan for it at the track. Great idea since once it goes green you cant hear the PA system at 99% of tracks.

Again, this is NOT an FM transmitter. It does not broadcast on the FM band. You'll need to purchase a Raceiver radio (or use your Racing Electronics scanner) to be able to pick up the broadcast. As far as Lakeside Saturday night, I believe it will still be in "test mode". (454.00 is, I beleive, the frequency used to communicate with the drivers, and so the P.A. broadcast will go on a different frequency,

Too bad it's not FM - guessing more folks have portable FM radios already. FYI - for about $100 DV could purchase a low-power 'whole-home' type FM transmitter than would easily cover most track's grandstand.

I looked into the Mhz of the raceceivers and found a few online options that are reasonable. I might look into it if the tests work well. Pug into my camera and all set!

UPDATE: We're still trying to get everything sorted out. The transmitter works, but the quality is poor, and there are some issues with interference with the wireless mic system as well. We appreciate your patience as we sort through these issues. We'd like to be able to get the program up and running ASAP, but we want to be sure the quality is high when we do. (Most of the issues need to be addressed on race day because the system behaves differently when not connected to a track p.a. system.)

I know all aout interference with PA systems. I have a wireless mike and it does not work at some tracks once they turn on their PA system. I hope you get it worked out!
