VETERAN MARESCH LEADS LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS INTO PERRIS!

(Placentia, CA, May 24, 2012) Anaheim Hills veteran "Zoom" Guy Maresch heads the list
of entries for round #6 of the 2012 California Lightning Sprint Car Series this Saturday night, May 26th, at Perris Auto Speedway. Joining the CLS on the annual "Salute to Indy" program
will be Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint, The PAS Senior Sprints and the gorgeous WRA vintage cars. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM and the first race will be at 7:00.

The 55-year-old veteran driver became the third different CLS point leader in five 2012 races two weeks ago when he replaced Placentia veteran Dan Hillberg at the top of the point heap. Heading into Saturday's affair at The PAS, Maresch has a 7-point lead over Hillberg in the championship standings. Last year's rookie of the year Steve Limon of Corona is third in the chase with Dale Gamer of Anaheim and Hemet teen sensation Alexander Bissett rounding out the top five.

The best battle currently going on in the standings is from third place to seventh. Only 31-points separate Limon from seventh place driver Damon Arnett of San Diego. Sandwiched in between them are Gamer, Bissett and Lomita's Bobby Michnowicz.

Thus far in 2012, Lomita teenager Kevin Michnowicz leads the series with two wins. Hillberg, Stuart Hielscher Jr. of Murrieta and Northern California's Scott Kinney have one victory each.

After Saturday high speed show, the CLS will get 5 1/2 weeks off before returning to action on the famous Riverside County clay oval on July 4th.

The California Lightning Sprint Car Series would like to thank 2012 series sponsors Christian Stover Foundation, Rod End Supply, Sander Engineering, Saldana Race Products, DK Machining and Fabrication, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Hoosier Racing Tires, Circle Track Performance, DJ Safety, Performance by Rosson Racing, Racing Optics, Electro Tech Powder Coating and Oil Twins Amsoil (Hard Charger Award at The PAS). If you or your company would like to become part of the California Lightning Series for the 2012 season, please call Dan Hillberg at: (714) 719-0295.
