CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINTS & WORLD OF OUTLAWS SATURDAY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!
(Placentia, CA, March 6, 2012) The California Lightning Sprint Car Series will stage the
biggest race in it's 19-year history this Saturday Night when they join with the "Greatest Show On Dirt," the World of Outlaws, in the "NAPA Know How So Cal Showdown" at Perris Auto Speedway. Spectator gates will open at 4:00 PM and the first race will be at 7:00.
Last November, Don Kazarian, promoter of Perris, announced that for the first time in five years, the World of Outlaws were coming back to the Riverside County clay oval. A few
weeks later he rewarded the CLS by adding them to the program. "These guys do a great job and we wanted to add them to the program," Kazarian said. "They run a fast, entertaining,
professional show and their car count has grown dramatically over the past year." Saturday's show will be raced in front of what is expected to be one of the biggest crowds of the year
at The PAS.
Before another large crowd two weeks ago, Lomita teenager Kevin Michnowicz opened the 2012 CLS campaign with an impressive win over 2011 Rookie of the Year Steve Limon of Corona and Placentia veteran Dan Hillberg. All three will be back in action on Saturday.
Twenty-one CLS cars signed in for the season opener and more are expected to be on hand this week. Included among the entries will be 2011 series champion Tim Brown of Wildomar. The 52-year old speedster, who sat out the season opener two weeks ago, won the title in only his fourth year in the series. As well as Brown and other locals, drivers from Northern California's BCRA series are expected to be in attendance.
After Saturday's date with the World of Outlaws, the CLS will continue with a busy month of March with its first appearance of 2012 at The Bakersfield Speedway on March 17th before returning home to The PAS with the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and The PAS Senior Sprints on March 31st.
