The next exciting UMSS event will be held this Friday June 3 at the Princeton Speedway featuring the 10th Annual Billy Anderson Memorial. Previous winners of this popular memorial race include Tony Norem, Bill Boles, Jerry Richert Jr, Loren Langerud, Jake Peters, Chuck Swenson and Lou Kennedy Jr. The feature will pay $1,010 to win with some bonus money from GRP Motorsports. Pit gates open at 5:00 with racing at 7:00. The sprint cars are scheduled to hot lap just prior to the beginning of heat race action for the weekly Princeton divisions.

The following night the UMSS will be back in action to complete a double-header weekend of racing with their second stop of the season at the Ogilvie Raceway. The feature race will pay $1,000 to win with some bonus money from GRP Motorsports. Pit gates open at 3:00, sprint car hot laps are slated for 6:15, and racing will get underway at 6:30. Both the winged and non-winged TSCS divisions will be on the prgram at the Ogilvie Raceway on Saturday June 4.

Come on out and enjoy two nights of entertaining UMSS sprint car racing action this coming weekend June 3-4 to kick off the month of June UMSS style.

In this thread, we're going to take a look back at the feature race finishes of the previous Billy Anderson Memorials held. Note that the 7th and 9th Annuals fell victim to the weather, so there are seven previous winners. From 2002-2005, the race was run under WISSOTA sanctioning. In 2006 and 2007, ASCS rules were in effect and would have been for the twice rained out 2008 event. In 2009, the UMSS sanctioned the race and will do so once again in 2011 after the 2010 edition fell victim to the weather.

From my understanding, previous winners Tony Norem and Jerry Richert, Jr. are planning to be on hand at Princeton Speedway this Friday night in order to see if they can become the first repeat winner of this annual memorial for one our area's fallen racers, Billy Anderson from Zimmerman.

Only two drivers have qualified for and raced in all seven Billy Anderson Memorial feature events. Those two drivers are Jerry Richert, Jr. and John Nelson. Looking at a few other current UMSS drivers, Alan Gilbertson has made five features, Tony Norem, Joseph Kouba and Sye Anderson have made four while Johnny Parsons III has three feature starts.

No dirvers have more than two top three (podium) finishes in the event. Drivers with two include Tony Norem, Jake Peters, Bill Boles, Chuck Swenson, Scott Winters and Curt Lund. Of that group, Norem, Peters and Swenson have a first and a second. I think it is safe to say that no one driver has dominated this memorial event over the years. The venue will change in 2011 to the Princeton Speedway after the Cedar Lake Speedway hosted the race for the first nine years which included two rain outs.
