5/12/11 The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series prepare for their much anticipated first doubleheader weekend of the 2011 season as they head northwest to a pair of highbanked 3/8's venues Friday & Saturday May 20-21. Their first stop will be at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wisconsin for IRA's inaugural visit. Promoter Bob Timm has done an outstanding job with the facility as witnessed by a recent Dirt Knights TV episode and IRA looks forward to destroying the current track record as this will be the first ever 410 winged Sprint show at the picturesque riverside facility. Fans bring your lawn chairs as the concrete tiers are designed specifically for lawn chair seating. Then Saturday is a short trip north to one of IRA's favorite stops, the Cedar Lake Speedway near New Richmond, Wisconsin. Cedar Lake will host their first ever Triple Crown featuring $3000 to win - $300 to start shows for both IRA Sprints and NASCAR Late Models, plus Midwest Modifieds. See the best of the upper-Midwest as the areas' premier race series hits a pair of tracks whose design should provide a great weekend of racing. Bring your ear plugs as the boys are leaving their mufflers home for this combo.

Checkout www.mississippithunder.com and www.cedarlakespeedway.com for more information. IRA is proud to have the support of Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts & Service Centers, Osborn & Son Trucking, Goodyear, DNA Energy Drink & Snacks, TW Metals, Onan, MPT Industries, UltraLube, Carriage Auto Body, Big Game Treestands, and Polaris DEFENSE.

I most certainly plan to be at both events as well. Also at the CLS show, the UMSS TSCS non-winged sprints will run a couple of exhibition races with 6 or 7 cars expected to be on hand. Kevin Bradwell topped the first exhibition feature run at the Ogilvie Raceway back on May 7, and "The Rocketman" will be looking to make it two straight. Bradwell will have some stiff competition, as the Reactor Racing team cars driven by Johnny Parsons III and Tom Kamrath are slated to be on hand at CLS on Saturday night. The UMSS is also expecting the "Race doc" Jeff Pellersels to have his car there plus veteran racer Jack Clark and young gun Jalen Morris. Another veteran driver, Sid Denzer, may have his car ready to race as well. Several other cars are in the process of being made race-ready, and they should be out in the upcoming weeks.

I am really looking forward to a weekend of high-powered and fast-paced IRA 410 outlaw sprint car racing at MTS and CLS plus a big late model show at CLS and all of the other regular classes that are scheduled to run at the two Wisconsin 3/8 mile dirt ovals. The advance weather outlook is decent, so let's hope for some great weather and great racing this weekend.

Hey Stan, Vinster and I are riding down to MTS together on Friday. You gonna make it down there or just to CLS? If you need a ride, let me know.

I was considering going to Mississippi Thunder but don't know if I can get off work early so I'd be leaving late.

Chuck,

Make sure you don't get your pickup dirty! I hate when cars are dirty.

I hate that to when car owners don't keep their cars clean and shiney !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes, my truck gets really dirty. People give me a double take when I drive by on the way home. Wondering what I have been up too.

60% chance of rain, can't get off until 3:30 from downtown St. Paul so I'd have to drive myself. That would be an expensive night. If they manage to get it in it could be a great night of racing but it would be a $100 gamble. If I go to two nights of racing this weekend it would set me back for a few weeks.

Chuck, remember that time I rode with you guys all the way up to Ashland and we ended up standing around in Rager's hauler? The called the race which was a given seeing as there was street flooding in nearby towns so we all went and had a burger in Iron River. Back then we just went and didn't even think about the cost or how much of a chance of rain there was. Were those the good old days? I'm starting to think so. Smile

Friday forecast has gone up to 80% for Friday night at Fountain City. Stick a fork in Friday racing for me, I can't afford to throw away that much money on a trip that isn't a sure thing. Saturday is on shaky ground as well, New Richmond forecast calls for 80% during the day and 50% in the evening. I'll make the trip to CLS unless they call it before I leave, the gas is around $12 give or take a gallon so I can afford to gamble on that one.

Good luck to those going on Friday. Maybe we'll see you Saturday night.
