UMSS TSCS (Non-wing) Weight Rule Updated

By: Greg Parent, UMSS Media Director
Stillwater, MN (4-18-11)

As a result of the recently held UMSS Tech Session at Mastell Brothers Trailer Service on April 9, the Upper Midwest Sprintcar Series (UMSS) has revised the weight rule for the Traditional Sprint Car Series. The original rule stated the car had to weigh a minimum of 1,650 pounds with driver, but based on the results from the tech session, the minimum weight rule was amended to 1,500 pounds with driver. "Many of the older cars should not have a problem meeting the 1,500 pound minimum, but most of the newer cars will probably still have to add some weight based on our findings, " stated UMSS CDO Ron Bernhagen. After consulting with UMSS Technical Director Joe Kouba, UMSS Head Tech Official Terry Galle, and several drivers, the decision to reduce the minimum weight was made. The weight rule was also revised to further clarify how weight needs to be bolted on to the car. For the most up-to-date rules and series information, please visit the UMSS Traditional Sprint Car Series website at www.traditional.umsprints.com or check out the UMSS Facebook page.
