I couldn't be happier with the way things are going on my board. People are finding the gear they need to get into Sprint Car racing and there isn't much drama. Once in a while we talk about events and schedules, that sort of thing but I delete the slander and controversial stuff. It's a moderators dream.
The ones that like to talk sh*t will go elsewhere, no problem with that. Like I have said many times, if my board ends up being a hangout for a couple dozen friends and family that's fine with me. I've been doing this for 15 years and am less than a year from my 60th so I don't need the drama anymore. I go to a few races, take a few pictures, maintain a couple sites, write some stories for papers and magazines. I'm very happy with the way things are going on this board.
They talk a lot of smack over on the Hosehead's main board and the 20/20. If you like the drama those are the places to hang around. If you like getting your business done without a lot of the drama and are into the local Sprint Car racing this is still a pretty good place.
Quite a bit of the web site and message board traffic has migrated from the traditional sites and message boards to places like Facebook and Twitter. People who want to find out what some driver or track is up to can now friend those drivers and tracks or join their groups and post the question directly on their wall. I think these old style boards are kind of fading into the background on account of that. 15 years ago when I first started doing this web stuff in order to have a presence on the web a person had to learn html programming and pay for web hosting. On account of that difficulty factor there weren't many racing sites and the ones that were out there were very popular. Today anybody can join Facebook and start a group, upload photos and videos and get the same amount of exposure as a traditional website did a decade ago.
In other words, I am aware that this has turned into more of a sales and event discussion board than a place for meaningless chatter but it doesn't bother me. What's happening here is just a part of the evolution of the way we use the internet.

I guess I like to see somthing going on on the board in the off season- Ive become more of a watcher tha a doer and pretty much check the board daily- Good to see some local Sprint car items that become available for the teams that financially have to use the used parts- If it helps the Sprints keep going in the area-more power to them. Hope everybody is having a good off season and wish everyone throughout the Holidays a safe & Happy time. See You Next Year at The Races. Pat.

I'm not trying to imply that I'm opposed to more posts on the board but it's out of my control so I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Hosehead's forums provides free boards for people with racing websites and they get all the banner ad revenue so I'm sure they'd like to see more. That's money in their pockets but as I said in my last post in this thread, the internet is changing and a lot of people have taken the chatter over to the social networking sites.
It's going to be interesting after next fall when I turn 60 to see how long I can keep up the pace and enthusiasm. My interest in racing hasn't declined over the past 15 years but my interest in working while I'm at the track and at home during the week on racing related business has to some extent. I just don't have the energy to work on the computer in the evening and all weekend anymore after doing it all day at work. At some point a couple years ago I realized that I could be up in the stand having a cold one and not busting my butt. I've been trying to adjust the work load the last couple years to make it a better fit for my energy level. Just part of gettin' older I guess but I still love the racing.
Anyways, the internet has changed and I think that's what you're seeing on the boards.

Agree with you Stan, the racing news has slowed down to nil this time of the year! If driver/teams come on here selling parts it will help others find what they are looking for next year. Sure they could go the the hoseheads classifieds, but on here there is the local connection!
