Hey guys this is Ed Beckley from Dodge City and we have a great vintage group that always comes out to our Dodge City track and Liberal and we are needing some Vintage guys to come as we honor the Legends of Enid Speedway. The event is Sunday evening August 15th and we can have you outta there by 8pm at the latest and that should give you at least twice on the banked 3/8 mile clay track where many Legends have raced.

How do I make contact with a vintage group in Oklahoma?

Thanks!

Ed

I could get you in touch with a few guys, however they do come on this board too. There are a few cars in the Enid area already that fit this category. I know of two cars in OkC that would most likely love to be there.

How far is Enid from Amarillo? I know of two cars out there that remember the NCRA days. And of course I'd be very interested in making the show too. Best I could do is one car , since it is 200 miles for me to travel.

Can you get us a discount rate at the Brahma Bull Inn? LOL, just kidding.

Did your post say two (2) sets of laps on the track?

I have talked to one very notable Amarillo car owner, and they are interested.

Ed: Have you contacted Tom Barclay with the Kansas Antique Racers, so that group will know about it. We have a show this weekend at the Hutch. Nats. I'll talk to some of the guys then. His number is--620-538-4641--Thanks

I have verbally committed to this show myself, right here on the forum. Barring an "honest" emergency, I will be there. I do know of two local displays that intend to be there, as well as the Hudson sedan seen on this thread.

Enid is an old NCRA track, that's enough for me.

Welder and others we need you to show up..... keep racing alive in Enid. We must show these commissioners we are serious or we could have another parking lot instead of a race track.

Thanks in advance!!

The death of an old NCRA track is a hard one to take. It's like an old friend that many love, but cannot bring back. OkC being shut down has been a hard impact on the future of what we do down here. With OkC gone, there is now a 200 mile stretch of I-35 that is going to be hard to fill in with more vintage cars. Kansas is healthy sure, but if the middle and northern parts of OK get healthier car counts, then Kansas and the KAR will only get healthier.

And yes, I am working on my hauler(s) to get me to a few KAR events next year. I never dreamed of that 3 years ago.

Kyle,

Are you going to try to make it to Cowtown August 21 or to our Racers Reunion in Wichita Falls October 16?

It looks like they have added a non sanctioned 360 winged sprints to the legends night this Sunday.

Mike,

I just recently got back to work at BNSF after being laid of for a year and a half and I have no vacation days... Hopefully we can make it next year. I have heard that Cowtown is a really neat track.

Kyle, Cowtown is really a racey joint, 1/4 mile and get your elbows up type deal.

And now me too.

I spent a lot of money and time switching out drivetrains on both supers to get my new car out there. There has been a lot midnight oil burned around here lately in anticipation to make the Enid show. Even got the van ready to pull up there complete with a bed in the back for the wife-in air conditioned comfort I was going to take her to her first show of this kind and finally see what all the fuss is about.

Pulling up through the Arbuckles just now, my TEMPERATURE GUAGE pegged out. There is just no way I can risk burning it up right now. With the heat index climbing, I have to be smart enough to know the haulers limitations. The trip would have been 200 miles one way for me.

After all the big talk I did about Enid, I am going to have to eat crow and sit this one out. I genuinely hope the show is a success.

I am terribly sorry.

You lead foot racers try 55 to 60 mph and it will run a lot cooler.

Mid 80's north of OKC but rain heading into the Enid area. Might be light though. They had 1" during the night. Probably just enough to make the track great as dry has it has been. A little sprinkle might not hurt if the timing is right.

65 and rain in McPherson, KS Greatttttttttttttttttttttttt!
