100 years of racing on the Kansas State Fairgrounds 1/2 mile dirt track in Hutchinson. Next week July 2nd & 3rd Celebrating 100 years. The Kansas Antique Racers will be part of the Saturday night open ceremonies.

"Then on Saturday night, the opening ceremonies get underway at 6:30 p.m.

The NCRA Sprint Cars, NCRA Modifieds, NCRA Sport Modifieds, street...
stocks and Kansas Antique Racers, exhibition only, are on the lineup."

Just my opinion, but with such a historic venue has the Kansas State Fairgrounds I would expect a good field of vintage cars. Just to get the chance to run their cars on the historic track. But I'll probably be wrong? Most if not all who campaign their vintage cars has a fond memory of some sort for the fairgrounds. There is a couple of vintage owners or their family members who have actually won on the
fairgrounds. I know of one who has actually won a Hutchinson National Title. A few other owners have also raced on the 1/2 mile.
Maybe we will get a report from some of the viewers that will be their. It just won't fit into the budget again for myself. O'well life is what we make it.

Note from Joe Smiley. Not just for KAR, but all vintage cars. Also, no concessions in the infield, so better pack some sandwiches and drinks in the cooler.

To all K.A.R. Members:
Just a reminder that the Hutch Fairgrounds will host the K.A.R. cars on Saturday, July 3rd. This had been previously advertised as the 2nd of July, which was wrong Check your calendars. Be sure to check in before the six P.M. deadline. We will enter the grounds on the north end of the speedway, and pit on the south end of the infield. If you know of anyone who might not get this message, please contact them with the information.

The daughter and grandkids are in from Fort Campbell, KY. I and the oldest (he is 8) are going racing Saturday night, hooray. It will be his 1st race. With it being his 1st race we are doing the whole bit souviners track food of course. Hope to get there early enough to take in the car show also and of course hot laps. I can't wait it will be a blast! I hope I don't go overboard it will be my 1st with a grandkid. To H*** with the budget this week. Times like this only come around once.

I named my son after A.J. Foyt but you couldn't drag him to a race.

Bring that boy past the vintage pits. Several of the cars let the kids get in the seat to get their picture taken(always ask first), and some, such as Welder, have fan cards to hand out, with color pictures of their car. All are glad to sign autographs or pose for pictures. Sure makes me wish I had ordered one of your t-shirts. Would you put up the website again?

Another note, this time from Shelly Berndt
Hello to all,
Here is some information from Tom Barclay:
...you may or may not be able to use regarding the run Saturday night at the Hutchinson.

Enter @ 23rd street gate off plum St. We are together around 5:00 Saturday and pit in the south end of the infield. Bring your own food and drink as there will be NO infield concessions. You can cross the track but it's a hassle.
Hope this may help some of you out.
Sincerely,
