I'm not real sure on how to go about saying this but I hope everyone on this board looks at Rico as true racer and great human being. Sitting in the stands you see people pointing and talking. Maybe not necessarily cruel things but the fact that they point and talk rubs me the wrong way. I understand the fact that Rico being a little person is unusual but at the same time he should be viewed like any other racer out there. A pretty bad ass one in fact.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't be that ignorant moron in the stands.

That probably doesn't pertain anybody on this forum it's probably not the racefans but the drunks that really arent racefans and couldnt find anywhere else to drink beer that night so they came out to the track to drink some beer and cheer for crashes. Thats my guess anyway.

In Ohio.
Rico is great with the fans. He has quite a following in my areas of Ohio. I hear people say it was just special he took a pic with my kid or self. I see Rico tee shirts in many places I go that are not race tracks.
He is a great personality to help promote sprint car racing.
Does an amazing performance most times on the track giving us something to watch whether it is a b main or feature.
I have not heard anyone talk disrespectful about him when I was at the track. Overheard, wow Rico went to the concession stand and I was in line by him.
It is too bad that people would be so negative about him as he really brings a lot to the sport. He is one of the new younger drivers this sport needs.
Rico had some exciting races at Mansfield and Wayne County tracks. You could hear the announcers really into calling the race with him.

No one on here feels like RICO isn’t a great human being and a great true racer. I feel this post is a little dramatic. . The people who Point and whisper aren’t true race fans, and therefore we shouldn’t give 2 hoots about what they think anyways. I would suspect Rico is a little Annoyed by this thread

When Rico first started becoming a bigger name I had no idea he was height challenged. I saw a winners circle pic and thats when I learned he races larger than his size.
When he is in the car on the track he is the same as everybody. A racer, and a pretty damn good one.

I was at Eldora Saturday night when he got hurt. Everyone within earshot of me was very respectful, and when we found out he was released from the hospital and heading back to the track, everyone was very happy. As someone else said, he is loved here in Ohio, and I suspect the same in PA.
A great racer, a great man, and a great ambassodor for our sport!

I was at Tri State last year and people were pointing at and talking about Schatz. The conversation I heard was probably alot worse(language wise) than what you heard. 99% of race fans are cool...but that 1 % are aholes. Booing is one thing but to hear some of the stuff said about Schatz was pretty crazy.

I was at the King's Royal in 2016 when he almost took down Donny Schatz at the end. I'm quite certain the place was gonna come apart had he won. Rico is a great talent & really good with the fans. The fact that he is little is cool IMO. Racing might be the only game where someone of his size can compete & be one of the best. Big, little, tall, short, doesn't matter. Do you have the courage & skill to strap in & get the job done. Rico defintely does!
I don't know if he has the interest, but I have thought that it was a massive miss by the Indy car folks to not get him in one of those cars at least for the 500. Rico in a competitive Indy car would be a massive draw IMO. He is a compelling story and has big talent.

To the race fans Rico is nothing less than a hell of a racer. Always exciting, and a story of success that has overcome an extreme circumstance. I have never heard anyone make light of or be rude regarding Rico's stature. Quite the opposite actually. I'm sure there are some idiots out there that don't know jack shit about much of anything, that's always the case in out of the ordinary circumstances. In reality their opinions and gestures don't count for anything other than stupidity. And I hope those nearby them in the stands put them in their place when they see that kind of behavior. I've done that when it comes to obnoxious "boo birds", another species that has shit for brains. Rico is a great personality, always good to the fans and always seems to be upbeat and happy with his life. And he should be. He's doing what nearly every fan wishes they could do.

I suppose this thread was more of a rant from my experience at Eldora on Friday and the few people that sat in front of me. This board was probably the wrong place to say anything because you all know Rico and what a great guy and racer he is.
It's just frustrating people have to be so ignorant. Wasn't trying to be dramatic by any sorts.

from my memory in his early days, Rico was criticized by some for being too much of a bonzai racer, questionable slide-jobs & such. he showed up kinda out of nowhere unless you were up on the karting scene, at Tulare & Ocean and he came storming in challenging for wins. TK once made a comment in victory circle after holding off a furious challenge from Rico, "that little guys going to win one soon". Wasn't long after, he did. when he climbed out of the car, we realized what TK meant, and the love affair began. Rico is undoubtedly one of our heroes. That "bonzai" style is his trademark, one of those rare racers who contends for the win whenever he shows up. We truly miss the days at Trophy Cup him & his best friend Kyle hanging out at the spaghetti feed, although it'll be nice to see him there this year

It seems to me that Rico is one of the fans favorites every time I see him
I recall ONE guy at Knoxville a few years ago who was kind if disrespectful. Didn't boo him or cuss him out or openly diss him, but you could tell by the tone in his voice when he used the word "midget"...
Other than that I think the fans love him!

There was one guy sitting near me at the Speedweek show at Selinsgrove. He was of the opinion that the only reason people in PA liked him was that he was a "fuckin' midget." His words, not mine. He went on to make many more similar comments throughout the night including proclaiming that he hoped "one of the posse guys put his little ass into the wall." He REALLY hated Rico for some reason. Apparently the dude doesn't like gassers who put on a show every single time they hit the track. I love Rico and apparently most of Central PA does too because he sold out of almost all of his shirts over speedweek. Luckily I got mine on night 1 because by night 3 or 4, most sizes of that design were sold out. Anytime I get to see him race, I consider myself lucky because we almost lost him to the taxi cab league down south like we did Larson and Bell.

Sorry-----gonna have to disagree with you on this one. The only person I have ever heard actually make fun of Rico for his size is----------Rico.

How about just calling him a race car driver ? He is well liked by many of his fellow competitors. If you ever have the chance to talk to him early or after the show you will become a fan. Great guy, and one hell of a racer.

Yeah sure guy! You are pointing out that he is different right now not realizing that your shedding light on it because of what you see with your own eyes your calling him different. Your bringing it up and that my dude is what Rico would not like is that very thing

I've pointed at his car and simply said "Hey, there's Rico!" I've done the same with several other drivers that happen to be "normal sized". The thing that the original poster seen might have been as innocent as that. It's hard to tell. I know it's easy to get the wrong conclusion sometimes. It's easier to try to ignore someone if they're being an ignorant asshole, but I also understand that it's not always possible.
