Last night they were talking about the history of the Brad Doty Classic and how it started at Attica, moved to Lima, and now is back at Attica. I remember going to a race at Wayne County just a couple of weeks after Brad was injured that was put together as a benefit for him. If I remember correctly Steve Kinser won it. Any other ols timers remember this race?

I don't remember that one, but the first official " Brad Doty Classic " was indeed held at Attica.  I found that interesting, as Brad never actually raced there even one time prior to his injuries at Eldora, yet that was the track that started the event . The event started out there as an open comp event, but eventually had various sanctioning bodies.  Interestingly, the race  now pays much less than it did 10-15 years ago.  The highest it reached was, as I recall, $ 14,000 ( approximately 2004 ).  During that era, the first place prize increased by $ 1000 each year, culminating in the high point of $ 14,000.

I was thinking the 1st year of the Doty at Attica in 1989 was a USA sanctioned race, but I could be wrong.

I believe Brad tweeted out last week that yes, the Doty used to pay more to Win, but today's overall purse is double what it was when hte race paid a lot more to win.  So outside of the winner, everyone is taking home more money than they used to.
