Sprint Series of Oklahoma Finally Take to the Track Friday Night!

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – August 15, 2016 - After a two-month hiatus it is back to racing action this coming Friday night for the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA Racesaver Sprint Car Series as the tour will make their fourth appearance of the season at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Current series point leader Andy Shouse of Mustang, Oklahoma holds a 31-point lead over Joe Wood, Jr. Shouse also has the point lead in the national IMCA EMI Racesaver Sprint Car point standings.

Touring regulars throughout the top fifteen in the standings expect to the Southern Oklahoma speed plant include Texan Brandon Long, Shayla Waddell, Chris Kelly, Jerry Jumper, Gary Kelley, Sterling Hoff, Gary Owens, Loyd Clevenger and Cody Whitworth.

Flower Mound, Texas driver Michelle Melton, who picked up the victory at SOS back on May 20th, is also expected to compete as well as Justin Melton, Brandon Jennings, Alison Slaton, Blake Scott, Chad Koch, Sterling Hoff, Blake Dacus, Kaden Taylor, Chuck Bellefeuille, Justin Fisk and more. Over thirty drivers are expected to compete in the ninth race of the 2016 race season.    

John Carney, II of Lubbock, Texas leads the series in victories thus far this season with three. Other feature winners include: Long, Jake Martens, Melton, Chad Wilson and Wood, Jr. In the past six races, six different drivers have reached victory lane.    

Also competing will be the wingless sprints of Oklahoma and mini stocks.

Gates open at 5:00 PM with race time slated for a 7:30 PM start time. Grandstand admission is just $12 for adults ages 12 and up; kids ages 6-11 $10; all pit passes $30.

Southern Oklahoma Speedway is located off of I-35 to exit 29, east on Hwy 70 approximately 0.7 mile then two miles south on Hwy 77. This is the inaugural season for the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA Racesaver Sprint Series which has a thirteen race schedule consisting of five different tracks throughout the state of Oklahoma and North Texas.
