TULSA, Okla. (June 21, 2016) - The Sooner Late Model Series returns to action on Saturday with a stop at Kerry Gorby’s Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kansas.
It will be the first event for the series since May 20 as rain washed out the scheduled race on June 4 at the Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada.
Four drivers have visited victory lane so far is season with four events already in the books. Kip Hughes won the opener on April 15 at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, Randy Timms won the second event on April 30 at Ada, Damian Patocha captured the victory at Brill’s Motor Speedway in Meeker, Oklahoma then Jay Sale shook off a several weeks of misfortune with a win on May 20 when the series returned to Ardmore.
Mark Harrison has yet to win a Sooner Series feature but holds down the top spot on the point chart on the strength of four top five finishes. Harrison is closely followed by Sale who is just 55 points back. Dalton Ragsdale of Muskogee its in third just 20 points behind Sale, season opener winner Hughes is in fourth and Eddie Martin of Stilwell is fifth just five points behind Hughes.
Several new drivers are expected to be on hand since the series is making its first trip into Kansas.
