Depends what you classify as a "major Sprint Car race?" Any race with 410s? Any race paying at least $5,000 to win? Keith Kauffman was 62 when he won a Pennsylvania Speedweek show a few years ago.

JON R. IF YOU DO NOT LIKE SAMMY NO PROBLEM. MAYBE YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT HIM RUNNING
INTO A PUSH TRUCK. BUT I DO KNOW THAT HE WAS INCHES FROM LOSING HIS LIFE. THAT IS SOMETHING THAT I WOULD NOT WISH ON ANYONE. OR TO BE INJURED IN A CRASH NO MATTER WHO IT IS .
WE ALL HAVE GUYS WE DO NOTLKE OR ROOT FOR. BUT WE LOVE SPRINT CAR RACING.

Many fans believe the nickname "Slammin" came from Sammy hitting other cars on the track, which has lead to the exaggerated misconception that Sammy is a dirty driver. Has Sammy ever made contact with another car....hell yes, but every driver that was ever worth a crap has. It's been exaggerated in Sammy's case, plain and simple. There are hundreds of tapes of Sammy racing in tight with other cars and never making contact. Truth is, the nickname came from way back in Sammy's early years, when he showed the aggressive style and bravery of putting his car sideways and slamming the big right rear in to the cushion and driving off of it. That is the truth in how Sammy Swindell became "Slammin Sammy".

BEING IN SPRINT CAR RACING AS A SPRINT CAR FAN AND CAR OWNER ALL THE DRIVERS GET INTO AT DIFFERENT TIMES.
I HAVE PERSONAL FRIENDS THAT DRIVE THAT HAVE GOT VERY EMOTIONAL IN THE CAR AND ON THE TRACK.
THEY BLAME THE OTHER DRIVER AND HE BLAMES THEM. THAT IS THE NATURE OF THE SPORT. BUT WHEN IT COMES
TO ONE OF THERE OWN GETTING HURT OR WORSE THE SPRINT CAR DRIVERS BECOME A FAMILY EVEN IF THERE WHERE
MAD AT EACH OTHER BEFORE.
