Sammy can not get a S.S. check till age 66.  He has every right to earn some money doing what he does best.  Why would you care anyway?  It is his life not yours.  The more cars on the track the better races will be.  Save your paper route money and someday you might get a job as a Walmart greeter.

" he continually brings up the rear as a field filler" False, you're thinking of last year, when he was full time. This year he's pretty competitive, part time is a good move for an old fart....

Take it from me... I substitute teach in the winter, run out the door screaming a week before the kids do, & go to music festivals & sprint car races all summer... like a 12 yr. old kid... with a car!

Thanks for keeping me entertained at work! HAHA. Any driver of this caliber racing right now is good for the sport, whether you like said driver or not.

I just want to say Thank you to Tod and to the CJB team for fielding another quality ride.

Thought Sammy retired.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

INBOARD DRAKE FOR SPRINT CARS. SAMMY, NANCE SPEED EQIUPMENT, AND TILTON ENGINEERING.

The shame is that morons like you don't realize he retired from FULL TIME RACING. Some haters just can't see past their blind hatred for the legend. Get over it. And learn to comprehend the english language. Retiring from full time racing doesn't mean he can't run a limited schedule. Such stupidity from the haters. At least us true fans who love Sammy and what he has done for the sport will have at least another year of comical stupidity to read from all the haters.

No hatred for the legend here but I'm going to be 64 next month and can't figure out why these Sprint Car drivers have such a hard time hanging it up.  Sammy (and I can say this from experience) is at an age where it sucks getting out of bed in the morning until after all the aches and pains are stretched out.  I couldn't even imagine running up and down the highway in 95 degree heat and humidity at our age.  If there's any stupidity in another senior citizen questiong why he'd still want to race full time then I'm guilty.  No hating though, I've been watching Sammy since he started racing with the Outlaws and admire his accomplishments.  Just saying that being in one's 60's changes everything.  You'll get your turn and when you do you'll think back on this post when you can barely drag your ass out of bed in the morning and you too will wonder why Sammy is hanging in there doing a young man's sport at this age.  wink

Good to see that Sammy is back.  He always makes it interesting on and off the track, that's for sure.

On another note, do some of you mouth-breathing troglodytes actually 100% believe what are you're typing?  Really?  I've read some ignorant posts before, but some of this stuff is flat out ridiculous.  No hyperbole either.  I mean, you're all entitled to your opinions, but goddamn if doesn't make you look dumber'n hell.

Stan... I'm just spitballing here, maybe part of it has to do with the adrenaline rush from running 410's?

Sammy will win races, I think it will be Eldora where he is fast and smooth as silk around that place. At this point anybody but Schatz and Im happy, this thread needs locked about the most talked about driver ever on hoseheads, Sammy is more talked about on this forum then any other driver ever, Sammy is a legend and thats a fact, get over it and drink more beer booing him if you hate him and deal with it while Schatz beats everybodys brains in next year anyway. Sammy racing next year isnt going to do nothing but increase ticket sales for tracks that he races and thats a fact, If he is a backpacker and a field filler then what is all the bitching about? People take it in and deal with it while you can cause when him and Steve are truly gone the sport wont be the same but will move on so relax.

Go Sammy

I am a Swindell fan and really don't appreciate being called an idiot by someone who hides on a message board so if you want to meet me somewhere I will let you call me an idiot to my face.

I hear ya, I'm gonna be 65 next month.... however:

"an age where it sucks getting out of bed in the morning until after all the aches and pains are stretched out"... beats staying in bed! If you don't use it you lose it

I like to dance & I've seen a guy our age drop dead on the dance floor. After the initial shock, we all agreed he went down doing what he loved. We kept dancing, might as well go out in a blaze of glory

I get a crappy SS check, work in the winter, in the summer I'm like a 12 yr. old kid... with a car!

Just saw Rico kick ass in Pa. with the midgets, Kokomo Smackdown in a few days

Life is good... Carpe Diem!

I hooked jets up to the catapult on the deck of a carrier in my early 20's and F4's in afterburner were a bigger rush than any Sprint Car.  That doesn't mean that I want to be a deck rat again at 64.  I have taken a lot of Sprint Car photos over the years as well but I don't run very fast and am a little leery about that as well.

It's funny really beause all of the comments suggesting he's some kind of superman who isn't affected by the aging process come from younger folks who haven't experienced it.  All the folks my age are conspicuously quiet on this subject and I'd be willing to bet if there were "likes" on HH's I'd be getting some from my contemporaries.  wink

Just got done upgrading my deck and I walk every day in the skyway during luch break so I'm still moving.  Anyone who hasn't been in the skyway systems we have here in Minnesota is probably thinking that's a block or two walk.  Trust me, you can walk over an hour without passing the same spot, these things are massive and span the whole downtown area.  I move it but there's a difference between moving it to stay active and getting slapped around in a Sprint Car wreck.  wink

More power to these older guys but it's going to catch up with them eventually.

Love Sammy or hate him, everyone should be glad that we get to watch one of the greatest sprint car drivers of all time compete. The day will come soon enough when Sanny is no longer racing so enjoy him while we can.

Just listened to the interview on Pennlive.  He won't be running a full schedule so that leaves a little more wiggle room to regroup.
