Hello Scott

Does a driver(per usac rules)retain thier original starting position in the A main after bumping off, stopping on the track, pushed to the work area and repaired before the start of the race?

Wes, not sure on the rule.  Used to be if you stopped on the track or in the work area at any time you went to the back.  Then there was a change that pertained to three or more cars tangling on the first lap.  They would get their original spots back if they were able to run.  That may also reflect on stops before the race as was the case Saturday.  Just not 100% sure.  Perhaps someone from USAC can chime in on the exact rule.

Thank you Scott

I thought I have seen this go both ways.

I will keep my eyes open for the chime in.

I had forgotten about the three or more cars on the first lap until Chris Holt mentioned it on the way home.
