With all this hooplah bs on here about promoters, low car counts and chicken tenders...I wanna get a lil technical on y'all. I havent heard alot of talk about the headers on the 5w yet and I think there should be. If they're doing it for the reason I think they're doing it, it's genious. And what I think those headers are for is downforce. The headers create warmer air under the wing. Less dense, warm air. And the cooler dense air, will create extra downforce on the dish, obviously making more traction. I know that when cool air is adjoining on top of less dense, warm air it creates nore downforce. I am a huge formula 1 guy and anybody that follows it knows how areo sensitive those cars are, so I pay attention to stuff like that. I think its great innovation and I want peoples thoughts and opinions on this. Also,. I wasnt there friday night so did anybody hear anyone bitching about rules or anything like that? thanx.

The 5w was the loudest car in hotlaps...the 3z (Zearfoss) was quickest in hot laps.
the 5w was faster on standard headers when it counted in the A Main...
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

Lucas ran them during hotlaps...drew a small crowd to the 5w pit area when he exited the track. Folks seemed to be unsure if it's a technical violation or a safety concern.

We built the headers. They are not illegal per the rule book. No one actually even directly spoke with the team, saftery crew, tech, or otherwise. Pictures were taken by the tech people and texted to the tower. A phone call came 5 minutes later to remove them after hotlaps because they were "unsafe" but how or why they were "unsafe" was never explained. They're unsafe when we have to unbolt them when they are 600 degrees.... that's for sure! The car was not working perfect for hotlaps so to say they didn't work is a little premature. We only had 4 laps to try them and if you can build something completely new and in 4 laps make it work perfect my hat's off to you! Midgets have similar headers and they are "safe" so I'm not sure what the problem is here saftey wise. The drivers vision was not obstructed anymore than the wing and downtubes already do. No fume issues occured. Driver did not indicate the noise was any more than "normal". I really belive there would be many more people that would come back to or participate in sprints for the first time if the rules were actually enforced as they are written. Now it's basically like..... well it's not illegal but we don't like it so you can't do it. They won't tell you what saftey gear to run because of liability but parts on the car are fair game for saftey I guess!

My mistake, sorry. Would like to see if it would make the car faster or change anything in a full distance race.
