The economy still stinks and I don't see it getting better until a true capitalist inhabits the White House again and some Fed Gov. regulations on business are eased. Obamacare is choking the economy as well with its idiot restrictions/penalties on business owners. The only reason the unemployment rate is down is so many people have dropped out of the work force and they aren't counted as unemployed. I feel lucky to be seeing any races at all.

Even with only 17 Woo cars the fans got to also see a full USAC/CRA nonwinged show. Great value for the price of admission in my book,

Should unhook them so 360s can run with them so they get more than 17 cars in the first place.

Do you care to comment on the low turn-out at Eldora last night with Late-models and Modifieds on the card? Both groups were racing for 5 grand to win. After all, according to you these groups have it all figured out.

I sure wish the KWS series made a better showing at the PAS last night. I drive to No Cal for a lot of their shows. Guess that will change. Also I don't believe they had a race scheduled agains WOO last night.

Its a long haul down there fre a race thats not a points race for anyone but the WoO cars. The gas bill is too big, plus lodging. I think the turnout of cars during the California swing while up North was great, and KWS could be great all year. But you need time to service cars, and it is a big calender for KWS already, if you added much more, I think you would hurt car counts, its not cheap running these cars, and the payout out of top 5 isn't going to covery many bills!

An interesting fact: The IRA has had no less than 24 cars at all scheduled races for many many years. They are the oldest and longest continuing running 410 series in the country. They were founded in 1968 by Ray Toft, Whitey Harris and Junior Dodd and have run every season. The fact that all of the drivers have full time jobs and work for a living should not be a reason for a lot of people to go.. Oh...... them.... Yes them. They might run .5 seconds slower than Outlaws but the racing gets better each year. Last time the Outlaws came to the birthplace of the IRA, Wilmot Raceway they had 50 cars signed in. It is a shame they are not coming this season as they wont need the less than 20 car rule in IRA land. The IRA will race with the All-Stars and the NSL at co sanctioned events. I am glad I live in Wisconsin and have them in my back yard.
I tell it like I see it.

the woo shows in KWS territory had an average of around 35 or more cars. tulare and chico had over 40. the local 410 guys supported the woo in their area just fine, aslso while getting in some of their own series shows that were not associated with woo. running winged 410's in so-cal is like trying to run them in egypt. california is a big state. it isn't the pea patch like back east where you can drive 500 miles and go through 5 states. the tow for some nor cal teams would be close to 1200 miles round trip. an easy 1000 miles for most others.
to indy and beyond!!

Same store as last year, the KWS teams owe the PAS nothing, and its very apparent that isnt going to change anytime soon. PAS promoters know the risks of low wing car counts when they make the decision to schedule WoO at the PAS, thats why they added the CRA show to the schedule last year.

I agree with Johnny that a 32 car field is perfect. At least near perfect. 32 to 40 would be best. However when the field falls to 20 or less, I believe it is time for some real concern. With that few cars, is a general admission of $30+ justified? Why is it that more local or regional area cars are not there to increase the field? Should the WoO consider withdrawing from tracks in areas where the car count falls this low? I don't claim to know the answers to these issues but it seems that when the local car owners dont feel like it is worth there effort to race with the WoO, couldn't some incentive be offered to make it worth their while, even if the car is a 360? Perhaps comp the pitpasses and a few general admission tickets? Or just offer a few hundred dollars to pursuad them to enter. Years ago it was common for promoters to pay extra for top names to come to their track and race, why not offer a little extra to fill the fields to the desired 32?

A 360 team at this point still has to join the Outlaws at a cost of over $300.00 to race, and also would have to buy a flat wing to be legal. Drop the membership fee if they are not going to race with the WOO, say more than 2 times, and allow 360 cars to run their dished wings, you might get more local cars. Just my .02

One thing you have to look at is where are the cars sponcers at. Most of the KWS cars are based out of norcal, they also have a 360 or 2 to put in and run local. Saturday there were 3 tracks running 360's Placerville, Marysville, Petaluma. Some of the KWS cars ran at one of the 3 tracks with a 360. Or they ran the Chico friday night race. That is a long tow south for 1 race.
Looking at the Kings Speedway WoO results. 2 of the drivers ran a 360 at Placerville. Other drivers it looks like they run just one show a weekend. Then there were 2 cars that crashed on lap 4. They maybe a 1 chassis in trailer other one at home if they have a backup ready. Others the car owned doesn't want to travel that far for one race.

USAC National has the same problem IMHO they get good counts at sprintweek and early season and late shows when other tracks aren't running. But They are both a different ballgame than weekend racer.
They break They're out a few weeks or a season.
Woo, USAC have a spare they wheel out or change a motor just because it doesnt take off right.
Yeah, there the best of the best and teams even good at a track their running know they got not chance at top ten money so they run elswehre where they think they can win.

I'd be hard pressed to name a winged team south of Tulare.

I only go to WoO races when they are in good winged 410 country. I pay to see the top class, not the support classes. Unless the other class is 410 non wing cars. No way I pay $30 - $40 for 17 410's. One big crash in a heat race and the A main is a 12 car affair. Calling the next round of heats "qualifiers" is a joke. With only 17 cars...they are all qualified for the A main when they buy a pit pass. And adding a few winged 360's to fill out the field is worthless too.
Love the WoO teams, it's the managment of that series I am not crazy about.

I'm really happy for all you guys that live in area's with lots of cars and are spoiled with getting to watch 30 cars plus on a weekly bases or real close by. But for those of us that don't or can't drive half way across the country every weekend to see a race....calm down and be quite... the rest of us thank the Woo for coming to town once a year and gladly pay the price to see 15 to however many show up to put on a race that we otherwise never get to see.....and the packed stands prove alot of people feel the same way.....come on May first got our 8 tickets and we are ready to see some speed....now if the rain would just give us a break this year.

After watching the highlights the fans at Perris got to see one of the best Woo races of the year. After that feature I would not have been complaining about only seeing 17 cars.

Lack of water usually unhooks them just fine. I am finally realizing a nice variety of shiny equipment is a pipe dream when you can only get 17 identicle average ugly cars powered by identicle average engines.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Oh well. Who needs Stewart/Kahne corporate Government Motors funding when we have plenty of awesome chinese hardware right here in central PA? My antique lawn mower looks more impressive everyday.
