I was reading an interview in the latest AARN that Lenny Sammons had with Guy Webb and his comment about the Renegades was amazing.
"You cannot sell a series with B and C-level talent,: said Webb of the Renegades. "If you look at Tim Shaffer, Chad Kemenah, Danny Smith and Greg Wilson they are all 45 to 50 years old that are trying to hang on. there is a certain time that it is over and they have to move on in their career. They are just trying to prolong it."
Guy Webb has some balls on him to say that. Not many brain cells, but sure has some balls.

Yeah, 3 of 4 might end up in the Hall of Fame. Webb is getting very desperate making comments like that. Danny Smith briefly ran Webbs 51 in the early 2000's, must have been a bad split.

I read those comments also , he had alot of nerve talking that way about some great drivers. I'm sure those guys won't appreciate the comments . Maybe he should consider selling the Allstars ? to keep a long running group going ,but then his pride won't allow that . It will be an interesting season .

Wait...how old is Guy Webb?
has he been to any races recently and looked at the age of the folks supporting the races?
why did the younger drivers of his series break off?

Yeah, Tim Shaffer won the Knoxville Nationals 4 years ago, biggest race on the planet, he is really "just hanging on". My god it is mind boggling how dumb one person could be - he is a promoter of this sport and he makes comments like that???

My thoughts exactly. My wife and I are in our late 30's and most of the time we are the "young" people in the crowd.
pretty classless of him to make those comments.

And how old is Guy Webb's 1 driver? No disrespect to Dale but I believe he is up there in age and it does not look like he is just "hanging on." I would still pay money to see Shaf, Greg, Chad, and Danny Smith. I think most fans in this area would. I still have yet to see any young guys commit to Guy Webb although I'm sure a couple might. They would be guaranteed a top 5 finish and point money.,....well maybe point money.

Ok Maddog--where you at? I saw you giving Webb the 3rd degree at Wilmot last summer.
Did he tell you that you were too old to be at the races?

Hell, all the great ones are "just hanging" on in most forms of motor sports and because of them we travel anytime we are able to see them. Jac, Jacobs, Steve, Sammy, Dollansky, McCarl, Lasoski, Tim, Chad, Darland, Hines, Stanborough, etc. The list goes on but those socalled old timers that are "just holding on" are the ones I would make every effort to go watch perform. These are the diamonds of our sport and I hope they keep going for years to come. I would say I have seen my last AllStars race. Thanks for helping me make up my mind, Guy.
My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

This guy is incredible. Absolutely disgusting to see someone of an elevated stature in the sprint car community making such disrespectful comments about some great drivers. You can't have a series with ONE DRIVER either and it seems as if that's what he's going to try and do. Not to mention, that driver although easily top 5 in the country, is 50 years old. Even if they don't support him anymore, all of those guys spent many years supporting his series and he should be thankful for that. In fact, if he wasn't such an asshole, maybe they still would be. I don't know if I've ever seen someone of his stature make such disrespectful and stupid comments. Like many other posters said, those guys are all top notch drivers and there's a good chance we some of them in the Hall of Fame someday. Guy Webb should be ashamed I'd himself. If all of those guys supporting the Renegade series are B and C level talent, where does he rank as a series owner?

Ask swamp what Webb calls Brad Doty behind his back then decide on how you feel. And I know for a fact he owes some big money to t-shirt vendors, engine builders, ex emoyees and us fans, plus right out of his mouth he says "I want Farmington shut down"..people used to slam me for my hate of the little man and now people are starting to see the light. GO RENEGADES!!

Stop supporting Fremont and Attica weekly shows and the All Stars are over. Let Farmer and Bores know that not only will you not support the All Stars but a total stopping of support until Webb folds.

Typical AARN one sided columns/interviews. I gave up on that one sided rag many years ago....
Maybe Lenny Sammons and his National Enquire of racing should sharpen his pencil and interview the drivers and tracks to get their view as to why they left and formed/joined Renegade.

Wow. That B and C talent accounts for 10 All Star championships. No wonder they jumped ship.
