pots not mind altering i know the videos make it seem like an lsd trip, but the effects are not as bad as being loaded on alcohol. anyone who has tried both knows this and wouldnt argue it. the plant was never made illegal because uncle sam was worried about u wrapping ur car around a tree. i dont think u understand what industrial hemp would do for agriculture and what it has to offer as far as renuable energy. 1 acre of hemp produces for fuel than roughly 3 acres of corn, more paper than trees. makes hundreds of products. even industrial products and building products. a plant that dont get u high. look and see who are the biggest lobbyists against. i was reading some of these hemp farmers are making between 200 and 250 an acre. comparable to a good corn harvest. but it dont require u to buy seed every year, chemical every year and dont deplete the soul of nutrients. it actually leaves the soil in better shape than before it was planted. check on those lobbyists. now cannibis is doing some wonderful things for a lot of people for medicinal purposes. i know u dont want to believe that and think its all about being a pot head but have an open mind an research it for yourself. i agree u should be free to hire who u want and i agree u should have a drug free work place! no argument there. i have never argued once that anyone should be behind a wheel or on the job impaired. in some states both cannibis and alcohol are equally legal. LEGAL. just because one is detectable a few more days than the other doesnt mean someone is impaired at work. therefore its still a drug free work place if nobody is impaired. i just feel its a doubl standard if someone smokes friday night and if someone gets drunk friday night. they are one in the same. but a guy who gets a dui. who risks his life and everyone on the road usually stays employed. have u ever had someone get a dui? have u had a guy show up hung over? hungover means flunk a breathalyzer in early morning which means impaired. i have a difference in belief on why the plant is illegal. thats all.

So i guess its OK to break that law because every weekend there are many drunken fools stumbling around at race tracks without a bit of concern about getting arrested. Infact unless they get in a fight no one seems to care one bit. I guess the public thinks its less illegal. This isnt about legal and illegal, its about right and wrong. In my eyes its much more wrong to be a drunken beligerant loud mouth, than a quiet smiling behaved polite stoned person. If I had to get in a car after the race i would much rather ride with a weed smoker than a drunk. JMHO

So if is legal to be/get drunk in public why can you NOT walk down the sidewalk with an open can of beer? I have seen cops escort drunks out of the stands at Knoxville. But hey, call your local PD and ask them if it is legal to be drunk in public.

and sid i'm not trying to argue that i am smarter or know more or anything like that. when i said you sound like a straight shooter and are a good emplyor i meant it. we just have a difference in opinion on alcohol and cannabis. Im sure we would have fun at the track and would share the same passion for sprint cars if we crossed paths.

And who were they working for 3 weeks prior to the test? That was just a stupid analogy.....Bottom line, if you want to do drugs, find a place of work that does not test. If your company tests, you have a choice.....Drugs or quit. How simple is that?

Its not an analogy, its reality. Pot smokers get fired or not hired every day. I can smoke ganja tonite & be perfectly fine the next day, No hangover. Doesn't matter who I work for

The only difference is that it is ILLEGAL to consume ILLEGAL drugs. It is LEGAL to drink and get drunk, unless you are driving.

Bad argument. Slavery used to be legal. Teaching a slave to read was a crime. Laws are only rules made by fallible humans, could be right or TOTALLY wrong

I'm getting sick of this discussion. I'm against drug testing, but if the drivers want it, its their call. Maybe just ONE more thing in a minute....

Hatesfenders,
No offense taken and I've not taken your replies as shots at me. I do appreciate we are back to having a civil discussion with no name calling. Thank You !
I agree we just have different views and would bet that its an age difference deal. Just growing up in different times. Fyi... just turned 55, yea I know... lol
Bottom line for me I guess is the fear of whats next. My age group doesn't want pot legalized. When your my age and your son is having the discussion as to why you don't think cocaine should be legal as he's telling you all it does is make you wide awake and very alert, and thats a good thing with all the stress people have to deal with. that truck drivers have been doing it for years to stay awake to make the delivery on time. Research has shown it does not make people violent or poor decision makers what do you say to him. Then 30 years later his son is asking him why he is dead set against the legalization of meth. ( slight exaggeration, not sure what drug would be inline..just making my point )
Once you open pandora's box you'll never be able to go back.
I'm sure we would get along just fine at the races
