I wasn't able to make it, and i have yet to see anything, so i was curious if anyone had any thoughts and/or opinions on how it went? How was the racing on that little track? I know wingless cars can put on a hell of a show there.

good race, great crowd, great weather.

I asked a few drivers/team member etc how they liked racing here, at first they said they were not sure or apprehensive, this track is probably one of the smallest they will ever race in a sprint car, by the end of the night several told me they hope they get to return to Ventura multiple times next year  Smile

Was it the best winged race I have ever seen, NO, but it was pretty damn good.  I think the fans who got to see both Santa Maria and Ventura, were not disappointed in the action.   Good racing with lead changes and passing, great weather at some of the most scenic tracks in CA.

I think he double header at Santa Maria and Ventura was a win for fans, teams and promoters for a variety of reasons. Both tracks probably had the great crowds (maybe the best of the year), the weather was great, car count good.   Hopefully, Santa Maria and Ventura can have future back to back races, wouldn't it be cool to have two weekends of KOW during the season at Ventura/Santa Maria.  Hell why not have WOO and Civil War do the same thing, as well as CRA.   The tracks are about an hour apart, and Santa Maria can draw a great crowd on a Friday, and Ventura is close enough for some teams to head home on Saturday Night.  And who can argue with the weather, I think the weather is in the mid 100's for central CA (tulare) or PAS

I would say the KOW made some new fans in the non wing part of the state.  Sure hope they return.

I was also concerned about whether it would work on this track.  But there were two grooves, and a fair amount of passing. Good enough where I'll be back next year if they return and are able to combine it with a Santa Maria event.

Great location to put a race track I must say! Beautiful settings all around... you can leave the parking lot and walk 20 steps and be on the beach. Great seating also. Only gripe is wheel packing started at 3:30 and went straight into hot laping and qualifying was done by 4:15. For the record it listed as the show started at 5:30 but oh well. Track was dried out in hot laps was the only bummer. Let Rico's dad and crew give that track a little TLC and that place would be a ripper!

P.S. Ventura should really have a flag pole and a score board...  Congrats to Kyle Hirst on the first inagural winged win at Ventura!
