I love this show! I've either watched or raced in nearly all of the shows and I always have a great time.
Pay out for UMSS 360 Sprints
1st $1,500; 2nd $1,000; 3rd $750; 4th $600; 5th $500; 6th $400; 7th $325; 8th $300; 9th $275; 10th $250; 11th-20th $200.
2 Challenge race winners will receive $100.00 DMI certificates
A random draw for a top wing courtesy of Mastell Brother Racing
Possibley other items to give away
Good payout for the 360s and the best part is we have a $2,400 to win/$300 to start show the night before at SCVR which is just down the road. Should have a good field of 360s at both races. Make it a two night sprint car show!
Anytime 360 and 410 sprints are together, you are assured a good time.

I'll be there! Haven't missed one in the last five or more years! Hoping we get a few of the Knoxville regulars from both classes. I know Heskin is planning to be there with the 56. Not sure if he will be running a 360 or not. Hoping Dollansky will make it, and Dobmier has often shown up.

Would be good to see some guys tow up to Superior on Friday night for the IRA show up there, $2500 to win and $300 to start. Then head south on Saturday for Cedar Lake. Should be a great field if cars at both events.

Speaking of asshole....
Maybe just try figuring it out for yourself. I would start by looking at last year's entrance list, that will probably get you 90% of the competitors for this year's event.

Wow, Jerry Richert Sr. used to drive a Supermodified when he wasn't out driving a Sprint that my cousins and uncle wrenched on when I was a kid. We used to hang around at the garage when they'd work on the race car and sometimes JR Sr would be there. My wife isn't a racing fan but her dad owned a car repair shop kitty corner across the intersection from Rose Plumbling and her late father was friends with Wagner and knew JR Sr. and Scratch Daniels. Her and I moved to Forest Lake, Minnesota, seventeen years ago and I have gotten to know the Richert and Tatnell families since I have lived up here.
The Jerry Richert Sr. Memorial has always been a big deal on account of my connections to his career. The first race I ever attended was specifically to watch him drive the #2 car at the old Twin City Speedway. And one of my early racing action photos (poked a 35mm film SLR through a hole in the fence) was the shot of him shown below in the #62.

My son and I have a tradition where we make an overnighter out of the JR Sr. Memorial and spend the night in the campground around a fire. We have had a lot of fun times post JR Sr. Memorial including watching some guy with a rubber parrot on his shoulder smash his guitar in the fire ring. We got our first taste of vegamite and used to coax my late brother-in-law Mark out there with his Mini Winnie aka "The Weenie Wagon" and would watch his antics. One year I took victory lane wedding photos for fellow photographer "Track Rat Vinster".
Last year my son and I invited a bunch of friends from our old St. Paul neighborhood, most have never seen Sprint Cars. Based on a fun time last year at this event we have extended the invite to a few more guys from the old neighborhood so now we've got a half dozen people joining us. Personally I prefer that method of inviting people who have never been to a JR Sr. Memorial to come out and join us. If I had to revert to calling people who do not attend the Jerry Richert Sr. Memorial assholes I'd have to start with my wife. LOL, I'm pretty sure if I used that method in an attempt to motivate her to attend what she refers to as "those loud, dirty, noisey, icky rates you go to" I would probably wake up in the hospital and miss the event myself.
If anyone lives in the upper Midwest and has not attended here are some positives that might convince you. It's a big race that pays well and has attracted some big name drivers in the past and I expect that trend to continue. Cedar Lake is high banked 3/8 mile clay oval located in a beautiful wooded setting and camping is free for this event. This is the only all Sprint Car show up in this area with IRA 410's, UMSS 360's and the Northern Vintage Stock Cars filling things out between Sprint races. The Richert Family has traditionally had a post race spread for the fans in the pit area. The weather is usually your typical early fall cool, crisp mid 70's during the day mid 50's after dark so we generally enjoy some beautiful nights for this event. If you can join us look for our group on the north end of the upper campground after the races. Stop by and say hi. We'll be sitting out there until we crash and burn or the sun comes up, whichever comes first.

The Earl Kouba Memorial has been rescheduled for Friday night a half hour up the road at the Saint Croix Valley Raceway. Fans who want to enjoy two nights of Sprint Car racing have a choice between IRA 410's up at Superior or UMSS 360's at Saint Croix Falls. GRP posted the payout for the Kouba in another post but I belive the winner will take something like $2400 at that one with a good payout on back. Assuming that your brother will be racing at SCVR on Friday seeing that he's in the points lead.
We'll see you guys next weekend. The 2014 Jerry Richert Sr. Memorial will be epic!!!

The preliminary forecast for next Friday and Saturday calls for blue skies with a high of 70 and a low of 50. It doesn't look like there's any chance of the weather discouraging any fans or competitors from making the trip. It should be an epic weekend of racing.

My only "can't miss" race of the year including the Knoxville National which I missed for the first time since 1979. I scanned this from the May 84' open wheel magazine. Per the caption, this is the Minnesota State Fair 1961. Jerry is in the middle and my Uncle Pete is holding the trophy.

Taking the JR Memorial to the Big Game.
With what can only be expressed as a nitro injected boost to the 14th Annual Jerry Richert Memorial race this coming Saturday the 6th of September at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond Wi. not only is the list of ever growing sprint car stars including the conformation of intention from drivers including Knoxville track champion Ian Madsen, Craig Dollansky, Terry McCarl, Davey Heskins and Dusty Zomer but the race will now pay a massive $7,000 to win. With the announcement of a payout boost to the payout from Big Game Tree Stands, not only will it pay $7000 to win but $4000 for second $2800 for third and $1000 for tenth with $500 to start the A main. This makes the JR Memorial one of the best paying single day races in the Midwest.
With all the amazing support from WoodCo, Bev-lor Utitlies, DMI, Gillund Enterprises, Big G Man, GRP Motorsports, Lars and Linda Larsen, Kody Kohlman, Rice Creek Builders, Northwoods Home Improvement, Protofab, Reed’s Appliance, Rush City Bakery, Silver Shears, Winnik Supply, Zuecher Well Drilling, DNR Construction, Donnahue Designs, Ready Landscaping, Mastell Brothers, Superior Septic Services, Trevor Boyd, Frattalone Companies these friendshave helped make the Jerry Richert Memorial the Midwest’s premier sprint car race outside of the Knoxville Nationals. The additional boost from Mr Tod Quiring through his company Big Game Tree Stands has only added to the excitement of the event and to have one of our sports biggest supporters wanting to join the list of partners is an honor in itself for the Richert family in honoring Hall of Famer Jerry Richert.
“Having Big Game Tree Stands offer to support this race not only as a team but also as a sponsor is huge, but the fact that Mr. Quiring believes that this is a great event on the sprint car calendar with all that he is involved in is a unbelievable for an event honoring a true legend of our sport, our Dad Jerry Richert”
When you start looking at the list of drivers from Knoxville regulars, local hit and miss teams added to all the IRA regular teams the event has never had a list of stars like this before. Added to several drivers pulling double duty with the UMSS 360 sprint car, this is a not to be missed sprint car event.
On behalf of the Richert Family we wish to thank all our partners in making the Jerry Richert Memorial one of sprintcar racings premier races. With good weather on hand and a great list of drivers we now just need to pack the stands.
