A lot of people don't realize how smart this Helms guy is either. He is a very successful business man with plenty of money. He won't mind losing money for a few years if it is going to have long term benefit for sprint car racing.

I bet he has already spent over $100,000 on his car that his son drives this year alone.

Wow, sounds like this is really going to happen. It is a real shame the All-Stars are in the condition they are in.

Take a bow, Guy Webb. You derserve ALL the credit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is the real beef with the All Stars?

Per this message board, Guy Webb has had some financial difficulties. Unfortunately, that's part of racing; it's not easy.

What else is wrong with the All Stars, but more importantly, what is the new guy going to do to fix it?

New tire rule? New-innovative engine rule, designed to save teams money? Less travel? Better purse? Safer cars? Guaranteed-improved track conditions? If it's none of these, then what is it?

A simple name change isn't going to be enough!

Biggest things would be probably payment and schedule. If you cannot pay somebody the point fund advertised the year before, why would you offer same said point fund the next year? Does not make sense. If you do not have the money to pay the fund, do not offer it. From what everyone is saying, money is owed to a lot of teams. Now if a few people say this its probably a rumor but when it becomes talk throughout the pit area then chances are its probably the truth. Schedule wise there have been instances where teams have to driver 8hours from one event to the next which isn't good. They go to the plains during a time when the outlaws are racing in PA and the area where most of the teams are located is in the prime of its season.

The group that races with the All Stars (drivers/owners) are a great group of guys and great drivers. Sounds like they are just tires of the management and want a change. Helms is a smart guy and can probably attract a sponsor for the series and probably has a great relationship with promoters in the area. Apparently Pennlive is going to get the All Stars view of this so it will be interesting what Guy Webb has to say about it.

I don't know what the beef is with the All Stars exactly...but I can speculate....I think the race teams are upset with the travel distances for some of the races.....in this economy, just a few teams can afford to travel to Florida or Minnesota or Montana or wherever the "Thunder thru the Plains" tour goes.....or even to eastern PA for that matter....Some racers have other jobs and to drive 8 hours to a race and then drive 8 hours home after the race is too much...especially on a weeknite race....so, racing for points and point fund money becomes unfair...if you are prohibited financially, and otherwise, to make every show....

From my standpoint as a fan......I would like for a new series that will stay regional, race alot in Ohio, western Pa, Michigan and Indiana...that way they are close enough for me to go watch them more often....Build it up and be able to offer a bigger purse for these guys....Big purse would attract more racers...make it a true outlaw thing, no memberships, just show up, race for money and points and see who has the most points at the end of the schedule? The schedule should be to have races on a Friday evening at one track, and then Saturday evening at another track closeby the previous evening's location...For example, Friday at Mercer, Saturday at Sharon? Then don't race on the weekdays... except for Speedweek. Then the next weekend go to Attica Friday, Fremont Saturday. Following weekend Lima on Friday, Eldora on Saturday. Following week Hilltop on Friday, Wayne County on Saturday. Following week Peebles on Friday and Atomic on Saturday....Following week Butler Michigan on Friday and Kokomo Indiana on Saturday? Then you have your circuit, go through that once, and then do it again a second time. That way the local tracks still have their weekly shows and only have this new series show up a couple of times a summer......And, I hope they will keep the support series to 1 other class, like 305 sprints or late models.....2 or 3 other classes on top of the 410 sprints is too many for me....

So, that is my two cents.

This series will succeed.  The drivers are already committing to it, which is the most important step.  Now promoters have to look at the field being assembled of committed drivers and make their decision on who to book next year.  There will be no split like the WoO and NST, Webb has nothing to counter offer.  I would not look for Blaney to commit to anything until seasons end just so he can hopefully get paid.

I called out Guy Webb for the bullshit scheduling at Wilmot and finding there was going to be only 4 cars from the All Stars there.  I sent him an e-mail and he fired one back with his phone number.   I called him and talked to him for at least a half an hour.  He talked so damn fast I don't remember if he addressed my points or not.  He seems like a nice guy, but maybe he has lost enough money that right now he is in waay over his head and there is no way out.  Catch-22.  Money troubles = no one wanting to put their name to it.

The all stars really have only one thing, Ohio speedweek. If the tracks abandon Webb and go to the new series, it's over. Not sure the contracts involved however.

This series will not work.

It will work, especially if all the tracks in Ohio go with the new series. If you have ever raced before with the All-stars since Webb took it over you would understand this won't be hard to over run Guy Webb. With his reputation and bad attitude with the teams,I'm surprised it took this long. The All-Star Circuit of Champions where doomed from day 1 when Webb got it. Wonder if he has paid Bert and Bridgett Emick all the money yet. As of a year ago that wasnt even paid in full yet. I hope this new series goes well and the people running the series respects the owner, fans, drivers, and track promotors that are spending the money and putting on the shows. It takes alot of work to have a successful racing organization and that is Webbs problem, to hard of work. (lazy).  Just my opinion.

There wouldn't be a name change anyways as I'm assuming Webb has the naming rights. No fans, No drivers = No ASCoC.

Will Speedweeks be called Renegade Speedweeks if they can't use the All Star name ?

Who all is involved with this. If Farmer is you all have to remember that he bought FAST & why couldn't that be expanded to help with this.

Questions, Questions & more Questions.

I agree with you. It will work IF the tracks go with the new series. That is a huge IF though.

They also have brand name. When the fans see Renegade series on the schedule, they're going to wonder "what the hell is that?" When they see AScoC, they know it's not gonna bring many extra cars but at least some big names like Shaffer, Blaney and Haud. The all-stars are not a stand alone show, the WOO barely is(or not). They need to run at places that already have a weekly 410  scene. It seems that the biggest problem the ASCoC has is that Guy Webb isn't very popular. I'm not sure if that's justified or not. Everyone's an expert on the keyboard but I'll bet it's not easy running a successful travelling show in this day and age.

If the owners and drivers are not getting paid, there is a problem! All teams that registered at the beginning of the year apparently had no problem. ASCoC drivers have raced all year until the western swing. I"m sure it was on the schedule. Now the push to break away?  New leader has $ and kid has"nt performed, gonna start a new series where we might be able to win? Webb might be a fool, and financially deficient, but what is the marketing point? Can't beat Blaney so we're gonna start our own?

This series will not work.

And on the eighth day, a Posse propagandist descends from the mountain to proclaim a primarily Ohio series will never work, so why try. Everything that endears arrogant, know-it-all Posse fans to this board in just five words. LOL

I'm really surprised that it is being discussed on here since no 1 can post anything about results anymore.

It's already out because of Social Media so people know about it including Webb.

Next step is have a race & see how it goe's.

Are there tracks Interested ?

I'm afraid to tell you that it being in Ohio has nothing to do with my OPINION that it will not work my friend. I actually love the Ohio local scene and have always been a strong supporter of it. Make it that way at least 2 or 3 times a year. In fact, I'd rather watch a F.A.S.T local show than an All-Star show or an Outlaw show. However, I simply do not think Ohio promotors of Ohio tracks will abandon ship with the All-Stars  and try their luck with a new series. The All-Stars races I've been to in Ohio have been very well attended and profitable for all parties. That's my opinion.
