What are some events that people would like to see return that took place at tracks that are still open?
Mine is easy - the 1200 Pound Nationals at Knoxville.
The inaugural running (in 2001) may be the most memorable dirt track race I've ever been to.
Nearly 100 cars packed the pits and the split-field format on Friday was completely awesome.
Saturday brought one of the craziest races I've been to. Droud and McCarl are the odds on favorite to win the race and start side by side but get caught up in a turn one accident on the first lap that sent McCarl upside down and Droud to the pits with heavy damage.
Both restarted and the race was still incredible. Kenny Jacobs took the early lead before Kerry Madsen (in the 82) stalked him down and took a short-lived lead before his magneto (IIRC) gave up and he brought out a yellow to put Jacobs back in the lead. McCarl also had another yellow midway through the race and went to the back again.
Dennis Moore Jr. then took the point before fuel became a big problem as Calvin Landis ran out of gas on the 29th of 30 circuits. Under the caution, DMJ and third-running Skip Jackson both ran dry and Jacobs reinherited the lead, with Droud nearby after charging up through the field.
Jacobs was able to take the checkereds in front of Droud, Danny Smith and McCarl (who forged his way back through the field a second time). I distinctly remember Danny Smith killing his engine and getting down into the infield mud as quickly as possible after the checkered to pick up as much weight as he possibly could.
Jacobs ended up 7 pounds light (1,193) and Droud was given the a controversial victory. There was very involved post-race discussion of Droud's car, which had bolt-on weights that helped it stay legal (referred to as Weight Gate).
Smith held on for second and McCarl was awarded third.
Was just an awesome event held a few weeks before the Nationals, bringing cars from all over the country that would stay throughout the upcoming weeks for the Big Show.
Sidenote, I've been looking for a video of this race for some time. I'd love for someone to post it on YouTube if possible. Knoxville's YouTube would be perfect!

The Fram Dash - $65,000 -- only held 2 maybe 3 seasons in the late 1980's/early 1990's (once in TX and once in Memphis that I personally attended). At the time was the highest or second highest paying race all season. (and would still be 2nd today)

The (hopefully) only lost for one year Ultimate Challenge. It's the only chance to see the non wing cars in central Iowa & I miss it already & hope somehow that Terry can find a way to bring them back.

The Gold Cup.

I suspect that you see the recent versions as more of a "bronze" cup. You are not alone.....

1. HBO at Eldora. Another $100,000 to win race needs to happen. Easier said than done though.
2. Not sure what exactly it was called (Turkey Night Grand Prix that is currently a USAC midget event in Perris???) but the winged 360 Thanksgiving race in Cali. I know it was at a couple of different places.

Copper World /Manzy doubleheader. That was the coolest weekend with USAC Silver Crown, midgets, supermodifieds and Southwest Tour late models at PIR during the day and SCRA sprints (with WoO for a couple of years) at Manzy in the evening. Two days in a row. Saw some fantastic racing............
SUPPORT WILDLIFE, go to a sprint car race!

Anything at all on a track in or near Oklahoma City.
"I'd pay $15 to watch a sprint car sit still."
