(Oxnard, CA 4-18-14) Ventura Raceway, in conjunction with All Coast Construction and USAC, is pleased to announce a very special event. On Saturday night May 10th, Ventura Raceway's clay oval will host the Fred Thomson Tribute Race featuring USAC/SCRA 410 Sprint Cars in their first appearance at Ventura Raceway since the 2009 season. Thanks to Mike Grosswendt and All Coast Construction each team entering the Sprint Car event will receive two paid pit pass entries and All Coast Construction will also pay the USAC car entry fee for each entering team. This event pays tribute to a special man, Fred Thomson, who from 1955 to 2013 supported sprint car racing in California, first as a competitor and then as a car owner for his son Jim Thomson and later grandson Brandon Thomson. Fred and his team were known to always show up at tracks in their Thomson Trucking tractor trailer units and always give a 100% effort. With Fred's support, Brandon actually won a special VRA 360 All Coast Challenge Race out dueling the late great Jesse Hockett. After he passed away, Brandon Thomson continues the family tradition racing 360 sprint cars with VRA and USAC.

All the best drivers in the USAC/SCRA 410 series are expected to be on hand as these high speed racers return to Ventura. Cory Kruseman, Damien Gardner, Mike Spencer, Brody Roa, The Williams' brothers and their dad Rip Williams and several VRA drivers are expected to be on hand for this very special night of top notch racing. These 410 sprint cars are the fastest cars that race at Ventura Raceway and in past years have provided fans with wild, exciting racing as drivers battle around Ventura's tight 1/5 mile clay oval.

Also racing on May 10th will be Ventura Raceway's Tribute to Jim Scribelitto VRA Pro Dwarf Car event. In the spirit of the evening, Ventura Raceway will waive its $20 car entry fee for all of the VRA Pro Dwarf Cars that compete that night as a part of the night's racing action. Additionally an added purse amount will be a part of this portion of the event. First place will pay $570 in honor of Jim's number 57. Also the other top five positions will have an added purse amount. All the top drivers in this class, including Johnny and Tim Conley, Brian Saxton, Eric Moore, Mike Lewis, Thomas and Tommy Velasquez, Hannah Mayhew and many others will be on hand to battle for the win.

Admission prices for this very special event are: $25.00 for Adults, $15.00 for Seniors, Military and Students with ID, $10 for kids 7-12 with kids 6 and under free with adult admission. Pit gates will open at 12 noon, front gates at 3:00pm with warm-ups getting under way at 3:30 and racing at 5:30.

This is good news, maybe more USAC/CRA races could be scheduled in the future. At least make THIS an annual event.

It says $15 for Seniors and Military.Does that include Veterans and what age does Seniors start at?
