Lots of funny (and true) comments here, but I do agree with N2T on this point, "anyone that has a long drive home from the PAS, the show gets over too late".......if you want the grandstands full, you must draw from all over the Southland. If you want butts in the seats, families, old people, even young people, you can't send them packing at 11:00 pm, they won't come back but once or twice a year. For most of us, it's a two hour plus journey home. Management needs to hear this.

SURFNSPRINT. ,,,,,Thank you for backing me on my thoughts about time well spent at the PAS. ,,, I have been preaching this for the past 2 years. ,, This is such a simple request from most of the fan base at the PAS.,,, BACK IN THE SCRA days the show was over by 10;00 or 10;15, and that's when we had 40 to 45 cars in the pits . And once in a while, we had the the old timers with Walt James and his guys. ,,,,, and still out of there by 10;00pm. at that time I was an SCRA OFFICIAL. With EVELYN PRATT running the line up in the pits, SHIT got done . ,,,,' NOW' or you were put to the back of the pack or miss the race. GOD I miss that woman. ,,,, again thank you for my backing . ,,,, This would be the first move towards getting more BUTTS in the stands.
JOHN JENSEN.

An easy fix would have the first race start at 6:00pm SHARP. The track could still have nearly 2 hours of no on-track activity and everyone would be on their way home by 10:00pm, and be happy. The down side is the parking lot is used for other day events not related to racing and sometimes there are many horse trailers parked all over the place. The track could ask for clear lot an hour sooner. Just thinking out loud.

I've been back in SoCal for about a year and a half now and have been to Perris 3 times - July 4th, Turkey Night and the recent Outlaws show.
Back when I was single, and even married without kids, I didn't give much thought to leaving the track late. Like most of you, I grew up around the sport, had family and friends involved in it and thought nothing of getting home at 2 AM or even later. On some weekends we'd get up the next day and do it all over again which often included a drive to the next track.
I will admit, now that we have 2 kids, both 5 and under, the lateness of the shows and return home weighs on my decision to go more often. Sure, I have other obligations now as well which have to take priority, but I still love getting to A track anytime I can. Perris is the closest track to home, and going any further than the Bakersfield/Ventura/Perris radius requires a hotel stay.
So I do agree the timeliness of the show is something to think about.
As for the complaints about security, I don't get it. I never had a problem and the officers have always been courteous to me and my family. The parking? I hate it because it's a hidden admission fee. It comes with the fairgrounds I suppose, but $8 isn't out of line with what you'd pay at other venues.

I don't think the real issue is getting home late, its the way the show is run with way to much down time.I couldn't care less about what time I get home as long as the show is moving. With that being said the racing is pretty damn good (even the WoW).

i respect your opinion john and im sorry for being that hard on you . my dad had the same medical conditions as you so i have a little understanding of what you go thru . if it makes you feel any better venting here , have at it . i do what ever i can to keep cars at the track , our team works really hard , just like all of them do . i work with usac-cra cars , seniors , and young guns . i have never been home before 2 am after a pas race , its a small price to pay . driving home from ventura or santa maria after a race is hell ! but we do it because we love it . last time we went to watsonville the show was over at 9:45 pm and 4 classes ran that night . so i know whats possible but i dont complain about it . i loved the scra days when we only shared the track with another class once or twice a season . the only way we can change things is to be proactive in our quests and offer solutions for the problem . and even with that there is no guarentee anyone will be receptive . jim busby once told me " you have to keep throwing shit aginst the wall until something sticks " .

You know Axle ,,,, Your friend Mr Jim Busby was wright !!!!!! . I've been throwing shit aginst the wall for a long time now . ,,,, and once in awhile I do get it to stick. ,,,,, Some people do not like that it landed on there wall. !!!!! ,, LOL. O"well sorry But sometimes shit happens !!!!!!. I prefer fresh COW shit . ,,,, LOL. Have a good one Axle. ,,,,, ZZ

we just have to channel our ideas the right way . we set the example for others to follow . we care , thats why we do what we do , but the words we choose sometimes make it look like we dont care .
