profitable for the promotors maybe. major $$$ losses for the team owners though due to the # of miles between the areas....
|
Not if sponsors are found to pay for fuel and lodging for 10 teams or so and guaranteeing those teams starting spots. Each team could have their own qualifying race to determine starting positions in inner or outer row. There are many ways to do this.

Might as well make it a triple Whoopdee shit!

Thats funny. Eldora would be half way exactly. What a great idea now that the WoO is the same talent and absolutley identicle equipment as the mafia and posse. All the cookie cutter WoO stuff could be used and the midwest and PA drivers could just bring their helmets to cut down on traveling expense. A couple of small block chevy powered school buses is all that would be needed to bring it together.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

True, but that sponsorship would be $20,000+ for fuel alone for the haulers (even if meeting 1/2 way) for 10 teams from each region (and if you're not paying 10 teams from each region, you won't have 20 cars there).
It doesn't make financial sense for anyone (promotor, sponsor, team owners), although it'd be great to see.
As is, you'll see the PA top dogs @ Knoxville in August (usually DeWease, Hodnett and maybe 1 or 2 others) and maybe a few Knoxville cars will make their way to PA for the WG National Open (Brown, Dobmier, McCarl, Lasoski being the most likely candiates).

Buzz is right, heard he is driving a truck now out of WI. Imagine we will see him at a few IRA shows here and there!

They could hold a K/ville VS Posse event on nutural ground about mid distance, say somewhere in the Indianapolis area or maybe Eldora. Do a 3 night show with a nice bonus for the top 10 of the winningest group.
|
Kville/Posse showdown would be cool, but if it was at Eldora, local fans at both tracks would be screwed. Home & home series, with towing costs paid?

Run a 5 night mini speedweek at Limaland, Waynesfield, Attica, Fremont & Eldora. There are other tracks also in Ohio but those would be my choice. If you wanted to run more there is Cannoball, Muskingum Co. (sp), Atomic, Portsmouth & Southern Ohio.

Craig has ALWAYS been fast at Knoxville. Let him run Knoville and practice all summer with a chip on his shoulder about not being on the road. Big Game cars always have great equipment so Im gonna go out on a limb here. My darkhorse pick for the nationals is Craig Dollansky !

I read your original post regarding a "former prominent car owner" and engine building. I was not able to discern a name or even a region of the country from which the car owner originates. I find the ability of individuals to read and twist words to suit their personal agenda remarkable. Thank you for clarifying your statement for those who read to suit their desires.

This thread started a few miles west of here in Elk River and ended up in PA. Who saw that coming?

I may have to make the trip down to Knoxville a couple of extra times this year. Shaping up to be a really strong field on a weekly basis.
Craig should be able to make a dozen or so WoO shows without having to drive more than a day or day and a half between Knoxville, Spencer, Jackson, Cedar Lake, Spring Valley and maybe a few other WI shows along with MO/NE. Plus, he'll be able to give Garrett some guidance on a regular basis.

Has anyone seen Craig Dollansky in Florida? Any news about his 2014 plans?
|
To be able to race plus help his son is priceless.Living on the road with the distance and time away from family is a price that takes many things away that most people take for granted. If it wasnt for sponsorships and sales of merchandise the prize money except for Nationals and Eldora is not enough to run a competitive team. Some of the good teams that follow a real outlaw schedule probably have a better chance of staying ahead in the money end.
