A limited number of General Admission tickets for the May 7, 2014 STP World of Outlaws event at Jacksonville Speedway remain available and can be ordered online at www.ciltrak.com. General Admission tickets are $50. Tickets will not be available for purchase on the day of the race. When the remaining general admission tickets are sold, no additional tickets will be available and the event will be considered "sold out". A very limited number of VIP ticket packages are available for groups or businesses. For information on the VIP packages, please call Ken at 217-371-3653.
Here's some background on the how's/why's for this event:
Why are you limiting tickets? Jacksonville is a small venue and doesn't have enough seating to host a WoO event through traditional race day ticket sales. Jacksonville has been a sprint car track for decades, but has never hosted a WoO event. We wanted to give our loyal local fans a chance to see the Greatest Show On Dirt one time. We are only allocating 1,200 seats for this event, which will make the place 'full' while still allowing ample space for comfortable seating. Out of those 1,200 seats, roughly 400 are allocated to VIP packages with a 3ft space for your rear end, while the additional 800 are general admission seats with a 2 foot space per seat. This will pretty much fill up our grandstands.
Why is the price $50 while WoO tickets at other tracks are usually $15 less?
Seating capacity and math. Again, we are only allowing 1,200 people into the grandstands to watch this event. This show isn't for everyone. It might not be the right show for someone who would be traveling a distance to see it.
Why haven't I heard about tickets for this event until now?
We have been selling general admission and VIP tickets for this event for a few months. We really wanted to give local fans and residents in and around Jacksonville the first opportunity to get tickets because that's why we are doing it in the first place. We now feel like everyone in our immediate area has had ample opportunity to purchase a ticket and are therefore letting the rest of the world know about it for our remaining tickets.
Can I buy a pit pass on the day of the race?
Yes. Pit passes will be available for purchase on race day, but a pit pass will NOT allow you access to the grandstand area. Our very limited pit bleachers will be allocated to race teams. The way our track is configured, a person who is not with a race team will have a very difficult time watching the race because no bleacher seating will be available.
How many tickets remain available?
As of 12/17, roughly 125 general admission tickets remain available. Not counted in that total are roughly 50 tickets where we've been asked by someone local to 'save them a ticket' that hasn't been paid for yet and those will be added back to the available tickets as we get close to running out if they aren't paid for by then. We expect to have enough tickets to make it through the Christmas gift season but that's about it. We don't expect to still be selling tickets in January.
I can see the Outlaws cheaper somewhere else.
Yes you can. This event is intended primarily as a one time chance for local and area fans who otherwise wouldn't be able to see the WoO on their home track. It's the only way we could make it happen. We are posting this information in case anyone from outside of our immediate area is planning to attend and thinks they can show up and purchase a ticket on race day like an ordinary race.
Again, call Ken at 217-371-3653 with any questions.
I can' seem to create a link on this post... so to order tickets, visit www.ciltrak.com

Kudos to Jacksonville for thinking of their local first. IMO, this is a great way for them to ensure the future of their track.
And since they are only selling 1200 tickets total, my math tells me that they are not making $$$ on this show (1200 x $50 = $60,000 which would cover the purse and maybe the sanction fee (since it's a mid-week show).
Glad to see Jacksonville think of their local fans first (it's refreshing to see a track just try to "break even" on ticket sales too, they don't appear to be trying to "make their season" off of this event.
Hope you have GREAT weather, GREAT car count and a GREAT RACE!

Thanks for the props.
You are pretty much right that there's little to no profit potential the way we did it, but there's also not much downside risk either due to advance ticket sales which made it a fair trade. If everything went perfect we could show a small profit, but nothing to write home about after our special expenses for making the event a unique experience, treating our VIP guests with hospitality, local advertising and the time consumption of selling 1,200 tickets primarily by phone at about 2 at a time. (Wife is really getting tired of the phone ringing constantly... I underestimated how much customer service time is involved in dealing with 600 customers by phone.)
But what we have found is that the value of this event is in creating new relationships with local businesses that previously hadn't been involved with the race track. This is a great chance for a business in our little town to do some hospitatlity for customers and employees and we hope those relationships stay in tact for future involvement at the track.
It's also allowed us to reconnect with local fans that got out of the habit of coming to the race track. This is our chance to bring them back to the track, blow them away with a great entertainment package and hope that they learn that its a fun, clean and appropriate environment to have a blast now and then.

Seen 4 or 5 shows here and never saw a bad one, the racing will be tight and close, to say the least. Heck a guy like Jerrod Hull might surprise here, he gets around the place very well. Nice to see some actual Promoting going on, job well done!!

I think the relationships with local businesses will serve the track and the local businesses well in the future.
Always good to see a track look at the "long term future" instead of the "I've got to make tons of $$$ on this race" that so many others use.

Re-reading my post, I didn't mean to make it sound like we weren't now encouraging people from out of the Jacksonville area to buy tickets. By all means, BUY, BUY, BUY away! The quicker we can get rid of this last batch of tickets, the less likely I'm going to get a call and have to deliver tickets to someone at midnight on Christmas eve as a last min gift.

Wish I could, but May doesn't work for us (kids are still in school) due to the distance we'd have to travel. I'm sure you'll have a "packed house" judging by the # of tickets you have left.

Great little race track every time I get to visit (when I am in town for relatives in Quincy). $50 sounds pretty fair, hell many tracks charge as much or more on the West Coast with higher concession stands and even some tracks charge $8 parking. I think the PAS charged $65 last year for reserved seating.
If I lived back there, I would certainly not hesistate to purchase a couple of tickets.

While they may not have many sprint car shows in the past, one of their best crowds (if not their best crowd) last year was the sprint show that they had.

Won't argue that. Just wish we could have more sprint specials.. Wing ,, nonwing, midget. The new promoter is a sprint car guy. I talked to him about his plans for Quincy and I pray for his success! I said it on another thread " sprint car fans are THE most loyal fans in dirt track racing! " we will travel to see a gd show even on a week night. I plan on being at Jacksonville for the outlaw show and would love to get one in my "backyard" !
