But $25,000 of that was a bonus to win 2 nights of racing. A little different in my book.

Isn't the trophy cup just a 1 year deal because of the anniversary? I thought it went down again next year?

Looks like the Summer Nationals this year only Pd. $10,000 to the winner, but they also were rained out the first night so I don't know if that made a difference on the main payout? But I'm not sure why if they had the main night as a $20,000 prize they would cut that down because of a rain out and I know this list isn't adding the purse for all the 1st place prizes for several nights or the Knox. Nats. # would be much higher. Anyone know the explanation on this?

Standard contract with the Grove if the first night rains out they do not benefit from the gate and the second night purse is cut. This wasn't the first time and everyone knows this going into the weekend.

Interesting to me that Knoxville has the 1st, 2nd and 5th and 6th highest payout of the entire year all in one race ($150,000 for 1st in the Nationals, $75,000 for 2nd and $35,000 to finish 3rd, $26,000 for 4th).

Great point Vande. I is always very impressive to me how the $1 million plus dollar total 4 day purse gets spread very deep through out the field. Really a cool pay structure where the top 4 in some mains get paid less than 5th because they go on to make more in the next race. Several other races drop the pay out drastically after the winners share.
Damn, I'm ready for spring already!
