Congratulations to the new sheriff in town.  John Prentice takes over Civil War in a long rumored, but just recently released transaction.  Alan Handy staying on this year to ease the transition, but it's a done deal according to the press release.  Hopefully, this transaction, with one head at the helm of both organizations, can solidify sprint car racing and help grow the greatest sport on Earth.

My prediction. This will become the Rebel cup /Taco Bravo series regulars. Don't see the Placerville, Marysville, Petaluma cars hauling all those miles south for 90% of the civil war races. I am guessing most of the shows will be south of San Jose. Thats just my opionion. Time will tell.

Dan, I dont think John Prentice is an unreasonable man, and as a result, i dont expect him to make Ocean the exclusive Civil War track. I do however expect him to have more races scheduled then he received the past 2 seasons. It has been a slap in his face that certain owners refused to race there. He was a very decent weekly program that will be bolstered by a few Civil War shows. Id personally like to see Hanford and Tulare get a few shows as well, as there are very good cars in the central valley. 2 shows at least at each track, Chico, Pville, Marysville, Antioch, Petaluma, Ocean, Hanford, and a Tulare show would make for a very interesting schedule. Ill wait until Dec/Jan when schedules start coming to find out the direction Civil War takes.

Throw in Calistoga and Stockton with the tracks you listed, and I think you made up the schedule. How many at each track will be he question now.

Any track that does not run a regular 360 points series should not be included in the schedule. If you can't supply cars to the other tracks why should you get their cars while they go dark on their division that puts butts in the stands.

Sounds like I'll be watching closely to see were this goes. I remember when the Civilwar first started. It was like 10-14 races long with races from GrassValley to San Jose with a Petaluma, Calistoga, Placerville, Marysville, and Chico thrown in.

What year was the first winged 360 race at Calistoga? I want to say 1991. Randy Hannagan won by a lot.

the scheduling of this thing is not simple in any way, and you can't just add tracks. There are only about 26 weekends during the racing season. Ihe weekly 360 tracks of Placerville, Marysville, petaluma and ocean have to put together points seasons of 15 races or so and this is where the civil war racers come from. take out gold cup weekend, trophy cup weekend and a couple more non compete weekends and you have 8 to 10 available weekends, maybe a couple more. The inland tracks take a hell of a risk scheduling a big pay show between 1 june and 1 sept because of the likleyhood of over 100 degree heat and no one in the stands. add the woozers camping on the west coast for a month and the schedule is impossible. Alan did a masterful job of putting it together and making it work. I don't see how it can if you add hanford, stockton, tulare and calistoga. It becomes a choice between a 360 sprint points schedule, and participation in the civil war. Add to that the common bitch that the civil war and kws shouldn't conflict and you can't get there from here....paul

Big Rob, $17,000.00 purse for civil war, $22,000.00 for KWS plus fixed overhead. $47,000.00 cost, 1550 seats your looking at about a $45.00 seat for a sro break even at our joint. not a pleasant thought....paul

What about the possibility of 360s on Friday and KWS on Saturday, with anyone running both getting some sort of extra incentive, it could happen.

That is almost an impossible trick to pull off.  You could not pay 2 complete program purses unless you were able to pack the stands at say $40+ per head.  Would be great fun to watch, but I cannot see how the math would work.
