I wouldn't be surprised to see Smoke start the race and then immediately pull in to swap drivers. This would ensure points continue in his name as well as team SHR. If anyone in NASCAR is tough enough to do it, he is. And he has attitude to do it just to prove to reporters and naysayers that this isn't going to keep him down.

Wouldn't surprise me either, especially since they are next at Watkins Glen, where you can pit for a couple minutes no problem, and not lose a lap. But, two broken bones...that's pretty severe...not just a walkin cast deal I don't think

I believe BK won a race in the same week he broke ankle and had it swell up the size of a baseball. Depending on what Meds the doctors have to put him on I would not be surprised to see him race on sunday, although I wouldn't be surprised if he was out the next few weeks.

The best choice is Boris Said or Ron Fellows in Tonys car at the Glen. They have the talent for road courses as these tracks sort out the good ones real quick. Road racing is a special talent and the hardest along with rally racing to be a winner at. The last really good talent in their prime was Tim Richmond and Darrell Waltrip. A high percentage can get a car drive around circles and end up a winner.

Lets talk about the latest rumor on IBRACN that has to do with something cool instead of all this nonsense.

If we're going to spend the day chatting about someone's leg, we might as well make it a chick's instead of some dude's.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

First and foremost get well Tony. Second I can already hear David Newton and all of the ESPN idiots typing away at their keyboards. Thinking stuff about "Sprint Car racing is the most unsafe thing in the world, drivers die daily, the track owners do not have safe tracks, etc." What a bunch of bulls**t. I'm sure if it happened at Pocono this would not have been a big deal but since it happened on a dirt track, lets light the torches and grab the pitchforks big media.
|
Take the sprint car fan blinders off for a second. We are a niche sport, and are covered as such by the national media like it or not. Sprint car racing just had a racing legend pass away as a result of a race days prior to this incident, and earlier this summer a high profile race race driver also lost his life. NASCAR is about as safe of a racing organization as anything right now. Sprint car racing is FAR less safe, as we have unfortunatley seen this summer with so many tragedies.

ESPN already reporting Tony's chase hopes are over this year. Those guys are fast at reporting on big stars. I want Smoke to race the remaining races, but if reports are saying compound-fracture and Stewart will miss awhile..please put Larson in the car.
|
Very sorry to hear Tony was injured in a sprint car crash and I hope the healing process is fast and he gets full range of motion. This sport needs the talent and appeal that the cup drivers bring back to our sport and we have to thank them for keeping such a great sport as part of their current everyday plan. Respectfully, I wish Tony all the best in his recovery.

Cool I will retract previous comment. Problem last night was those damn tractor tires. Next someone will hit the open spot in the fence under the flag stand. I'm not a big Stewart fan but not his fault at all. That whole deal was poor track safety! tractor tires ought to be outlawed.

I realize the whole niche sport and all of the deaths that have happened this year and years past. My problem is with how it gets reported. Over the past couple months media like ESPN has done nothing but report the dark side of sprint car racing and racing in-general. They think it is a simple fix such as soft walls or modifying the cars like Nascar has done but they fail to mention the cost assoiciated with all of this. Nascar is far more safer than any other form of motorsport because they basically have a bottomless check book in which they can research these things. All we will hear about now for the next month is how a sprint car crash took Tony's chances away from winning a title, nevermind the fact that Denny Hamlin was injuired in a cup car.

Would not hurt to first go MAKE a track get rid of tractor tires and grade a berm around the inside. Pretty simple

I watched as Mike Roberts moved the large tractor tires out onto the racing surface before the second B. McCarl was directing this and was there as the tires were moved. As a car owner I was amased at this move. Josh hit one of the tires almost head on and it threw him out infront of Tony and the rest. I detest tires as an infeild boundary. Maybe some fairboards and promoters will wake up now with such a high profile dumb ass move.

Maybe Harvick moves to TSR early, and the Dillon youngster jumps in on the RCR side

Its a niche sport, that the general public does not care about. Why do you think ESPN should feel compelled to report on anything other than newsworthy mainstream events? Most people watching wouldn't know what a sprint car looked like it it landed in their front lawn... Which invariabley will almost always be tragedies.
How else do you want it reported? Sprint cars are dangerous. Yes, Denny Hamlin was injured in a sprint cup car. Apples and oranges comparing Hamlin to Stewart. One occured in NASCAR competition MONTHS ago, while the other happened yesterday in a race paying 3 freaking thousand dollars to win. Stop playing the sprint cars are victims card.

No one is playing any victim card....I just simply stated that I don't like how everything is reported so stop putting words into my mouth. All I was saying was that I hate how ESPN reports on this stuff trying to add drama to a situation instead of being unbiased. I understand how it works, I was simply just stating how I do not like it.
