Darrah will have the ride as long as Daddy is paying for it. The 4 car isn't on tour if Darrah isn't paying the bills. So end of story, nobody else is taking that ride over. No Darrah= No $$ for the ride.

A lot of shit talking going on about Darrah. Give it a break. He's better than A LOT of other 410 drivers out there. He smoke TK at River Cities. I guess that doesn't mean a damn thing.

While I don't buy into the "picture" theory I do believe he has not lived up to all the hype that was on this board (mainly from the Posse faithful) when it was announced he had the ride.
Funnny thing is I almost started a thread yesterday about overrated drivers and he and Saldana were my top two. Regardless of his win I still feel the same way.
|
No Posse fan in the world thought Darrah would light the WoO on fire. Frankly, he wasn't even liked in Posse land by many because of his overly aggressive driving. He was, like LatshPA said, merely a top 10 car on a weekly basis. Please stop making such bold blatently false accusations about an area of racing you clearly know nothing about.

Shocking how everyone went away once the people that have a clue started talking. This board has a lot of talking and hardly any facts behind it. MSPN will occasionally throw something out from 20 years ago that makes sense, that's about it. The Cali fans are caught up on Sweet/Keading/Larson (let me know how they did last time at the Grove, 8th in the B? - if PA drivers did that bad in CA we'd hear ALL about it). Meanwhile I follow the weekly Chico and KWS results and probably know more statiscally about the drivers running out there then the cheerleaders from there do. Again, sad, because those guys do have talent and they are capable, I know it, most people on this coast respect it. Evidence is all the shirts sold when those guys come to town here. We'd be honored to have Brent Kaeding run here, meanwhile Cali fans bad mouth Rahmer when he did? Didn't run half bad either. There's a reason Stewart and Larson have won WoO, All-Star, ASCS, URC, every version of USAC there is, and to this point only have 2 combined top5s in Central PA. It isn't luck, it's damn hard racing here. Keep talking shit, I'll keep following racing EVERYWHERE and enjoy what I see close to home.

My bad, Kaeding was 7th in the B, McMahan was 8th. Freddie must be kicking his ass the whole way to retirement for losing that ride. Paul was clearly a better fit, more verstaile, and is running great on tour, but I'd throw up a friendly wager to anyone that actually attends races that when they throw the checkered on the National Open, the 51 will have finished behind the 20s in every race run here on 3 times the budget. Sorry, but if you want to be the WoO champion, winning PA should be easy? ONE guy rises to the occasion, period. Schatz admits he had a little good fortune with the 39 losing a cylinder, and Schatz is the best, not arguably. I'm confident the engine builder on the 39 will have a bullet in it come September, and those that come to watch will see a hell of a show no matter what. Freddie "might" be retiring, but there's one jewel he still wants and I'll have an eye on the 20s the last weekend in September.

I'm continuing my "mums the word" policy reguarding Kyle Larson...
Opinions may vary...

I agree that Darrah is a good darkhorse pick heading in to the Nat's. Momentum means a lot.

If your not the driver of the STP #15 your a darkhorse at best. No matter who you are. After that, it opens up to 20-30 guys that could pull it off, but I think it may take something falling off that car for anyone else to matter. Just doesn't happen with that crew chief and driver.

Darrah is my dark hores to win the nationals.
Why, because he times good. Thats a BIG part of the format.
According to the WoO site he has one fast time after 50 races so your theory (apparently) doesn't hold water!

Darrah is currently ahead of S. Kinser, K. Kinser, Madsen, Sides and Kemenah but I don't see anyone constantly hating on those guys. He just won his 2nd WOO race of the season yet most of the responses are negative. Could it have anything to do with where he's from? How about we just let the kid race and let the car owner choose who he wants in the seat?

For what it's worth, I like Cody. He seems to carry himself pretty well and is pretty well spoken in the post race interviews that I've heard. I think that when you land a ride for one of the top teams on the tour, you're gonna inherit quite a bit of hype and maybe unjustly overwhelming expectations. Whether that's fair or not is another argument. So the "overhyped" or "overrated" terms I think stem from the fact that more is expected from those guys that land rides driving for the nascar backed teams.

You should go easy on that guy...Anybody with any talent in his neighborhood ends up moving to a different part of the country...
Which is prolly why he still lives in the old neighborhood...

I would agree that he seems like a nice kid. I am looking at results only.

agreed, it's Donny's race to lose. he's been the one dominating. but you know, anything can happen! I wouldn't be surprised to see Brown, Pittman, or Kaeding win either.

agreed, his demeanor is one of the reasons I'm a fan. his crew are young too, but also polite. I gotta admit, I enjoyed hearing about him punching that troll in the face in knoxville too. not that I condone or crave violence, but some things deserve a punch in the face. we could use maybe a bit more of the settling things with a quick scrap than the 'go home & get my gun & start shootin' the place up' here in MERICA.

That's funny, I was just re-reading that thread a week or so ago.

A punch in the face? I'd say more like a sucker punch. I don't see any problem with him sticking up for himself but a sucker punch when its your friends and you against one person isn't fair revenge.
A similiar thread like this is started probably twice a month. Why we continue to talk about it, I dont know. The thing is, if Darrah were to go around and clock everyone who talks shit on him (which seems to be quite a few people) then he'd miss 3/4 the season with two broken hands.

Absolutely agree. On paper it's the 15, but anything does happen in racing and I'd love to see someone that runs knoxville on a regular basis get hooked up and go by. If I had to bet my life, it would ride on the wing of the 15, that's all.

Who would you suggest? Steve Kinser? His results are considerably worse, but he's probably struggling when Tony's the only one paying the bills. I guess I just don't understand the hate towards Darrah. Kaeding is the only one worthy of talking about, and I think I remember him t-boning Forsberg after he had a bad day. Owners remember that. I don't, I apprecate the fact that Roth sent him east for us to watch. Great to see.
