You pay your entry fee. Your car fires, you run the main.

Last Saturday at Hanford, =18= WC 360 boys ran an ASCS format with three heats, two reverse order qualifiers and a =very= exciting A Main. I have seen the CRA cars run the ASCS format up here as well. It's a terrific, crowd-pleasing way to get a lot of real interesting racing out of a small # of race cars... even if the promoter is eating it at the back gate. Faria's gonna run the same IMCA dirt mods and stockers Scott ran last week at Hanford along with the WC 360 and Rebel Cup 360 winged sprints. (I was out of my seat and in my car sending you guys updates while the taxis were racing.) I have to drive an extra half hour to get to Tulare vs. Hanford on a day when IndyCars are battling for the pole (say what you will), and I'm wondering if it's really Wirth (as in Eddie) the effort to do that for three sprint car heats and an A Main if Chris =doesn't= run an ASCS format.

That is for the officials and the race director to decide and communicate to the car at the time. No matter who is driving a car on track, if it is not being done in a safe manner then they should be asked to retire.
(I mean safe for racing. Not as in using their turn signals and giving way to the right etc.)

You guys have no idea how difficult scheduling is. But thats ok, I am quite used to hearing from people that don't know what they are talking about, but still feel the need to tell everyone possible there opinion. We all do the best we can to schedule. Spend the money, and come hang out in Reno, where most promoters come and do their schedule, or at least have their schedule done ahead of time, so we have something to go off of. Do you guys really think that any promoter wants to loose car count? Scheduling is a very difficult thing to do. Damn near every track needs a Saturday night, because the fans wont go to the races on other nights. I have done non-Saturday night races with small crowds, but I didn't get on here and bash anyone for not attending. So, its Saturday nights, between March and October. Now take all the obstacles, like holidays, and fairs, and concerts, etc. Now take out the Saturdays that other traveling series have to run. Now take out the fact that there are many other divisions that have to run. Plus some tracks have mandatory dark nights. Now add up all the Sprint Car and Midget scheduled races, and fit them in. Very difficult.
We are lucky to get a hand full of cars to travel 100 miles to a race, but I have heard flack about 2 races scheduled against each other 650 miles apart. lol.
Which ever of you have all the answers, I suggest you put your money where your mouth is. If not, just support the promoters, and stop the negative talk on here, and everywhere else.
I have said this a million times.
SPEAKING NEGATIVE ABOUT WHAT YOU (SUPPOSEDLY) LOVE, ONLY HURTS WHAT YOU LOVE. Speak positive, or keep it to yourself. I know some of you don't have the ability to do that, and I have no answers for that.

That a boy Chris. Not sure I understand the scheduling problem, but discussion is always good and everyone should voice their opinions. We don't have to agree, its the USA. The Southwest series has strong participation this year, with another participant being added June 29 (wish we could race next weekend but no dice). Three heats with a semi and or dash and 30 lap main is a good program in this era of multiple class events, fans don't want to be at the track until midnight so less than a 24 car field is not the end of the world to me.
The CRA series will always be the big boys, the cost difference in running a 410 vs 360 is major, at least for me maybe I am doing something wrong who knows; but the two things have nothing to do with each other in my opinion. Schedule on Chris, and FYI gang teams plan their schedules just like the promoters do. The guys that have a 410 and a 360 knew months ago which races they would run...
Come on Powerball! Got my tickets... stay thirsty friends

Having observed the results of Chris's efforts over the previous several seasons, I have to back his comments -- and take issue with his critics -- 100%. Those who believe that he's in a position to dictate what goes on are quite mistaken. He's far more of a Dwight Eisenhower having to work with Stalin, de Gaul and Montgomery, than a Hitler with an SS to point their guns at everyone else. Low car counts have far more to do with economic than scheduling issues... and they are not limited to California.

It seems USAC still hasn't figured it out . The highest car count I believe anywhere this week was 20 and now for the Salute to Indy which has been a yearly race at the PAS has competition from its own series. The southwest tour is going to run at canyon AZ the same day with the same title race. This has a impact on the race at the PAS because a handfull of the 410s usually show up from Az for the USAC / CRA series. So I guess we can expect the car counts at a minimum again. And here's the good part. The race track promotor for Canyon speedway in Az is also the race director for the USAC/CRA series . Now that is a conflict of interest.

Let's be careful here. Kearns and Montgomery continue to try and build their respective biz's through collaboration and effort. I'd like to think you'd want thank the Johnson's, Martin, Davis/Cook and Pelkey/Allen for heading over to the coast when they can. One could argue pretty easily that we don't see the same reciprocation with guys coming this way (save Priestley who has been over a few times) when CRA is off, which at this point is about 3 weeks a month. When you get a chance, take a look at Kevin's schedule... 3 tracks within an hour of Phoenix. 2 nights near El Paso. 4 race speedweek style tour through the midwest: Pretty impressive and probably the only series around showing any signs of growth. Keep it up Kevin and Chris!
