Threadkiller - yes, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if they get Delta eventually and pretty much have a hand in all the racing in Stockton. Kinda cool how many different tracks and how much different racing there is in Stockton.
And BTW about the crime rates in Stockton - I attended about 16 shows at Stockton 99 Speedway in 2012 and never once felt unsafe. In over 40 races I have seen there I've never had my car vandalized. All of this stuff is unfounded...

I take it you survived your stint there? Or are you still there?

I did survive and I am back home in Indian Territory. In Stockton you do need to be carefull of where you go and how you get there. My project was at the Port and I had an apartment near March Lane and West. The closest drive to the Port was right through the most crime ridden area in the city, therefore I traveled a few miles out of my way. While I was there it seemed like there was on average one homicide a day, even in areas thought to be pretty safe. The problem in Stockton, like many other cities is the drugs and gangs and with Stocktons economy in the drink, they don't have the resources to properly combat the bad guys. This new track is at the Fairgrounds in an area that is close to high crime areas. If attending, I would use caution and drive directly to and from the track and stay close to the main highway motels and restautants. On the up side, Stockton has the most Perfect weather on anyplace I have ever spent time at. There should be few rain outs and not many extremely hot evenings.

I couldn't agree with you more. I was the photographer at Delta Speedway from mid 1989 through 1992 and knock on wood we had no problems. We felt completely safe while we were at the racetrack. In the beginning my naive ass used to come in on Charter Way from the west on I-5 even stopping once or twice at a gas station or two late at night. Naive as I was I definitely did not feel completely comfortable in that area. Marian and Treva Parks who were big race fans back in the day from Stockton clued me into the route we took from that point forward. I'm coming from the North now and I would probably still go this way: Exit the Sharp Depot / Roth Road exit and go East until you hit Airport Rd. Take a left on Airport and you will find the fairgrounds on your right. We came from San Jose every week back then leaving town at 3:00 on a Friday fighting traffic every inch of the way and when I look back on it now I think we were nuts. A lot of us did though and the racing was awesome at that little joint. Ted Harrison, Dough Williams, Mike Kunsman, Kenny Piraro, Mark Monico, John Sarale, Bob Robicheaux, and so many other great drivers that I could never list them all. Just truly AWESOME racing. The minisprints were really starting to take off, dwarf cars were just getting started, and even the shitbox ministock class they started put on pretty good racing. The ministock class bread like flies of course like they always do and Stockton is a stock car town but we had some great characters and some pretty good racing too. Thankfully for me my memories of that area are pretty positive but like you said I knew where to go and where not to.
