Here's another thing to throw in the basket. There is a VERY strong rumour going around the contracted teams that WoO want to go to American Racer next year & WoO want to run & supply the tire truck! IE: WoO want to sell the tire & make money off it!

That is the reason they knocked back Hoosier's proposal,Hoosier wanted to supply the teams the Tires DIRECTLY & NOT through WoO!

So this pretty much guarantees your cheap $190 American Racer will for sure end up costing the racers $230 or there abouts. This is exactly what happened before the Goodyear contract, they told the teams that when they were going to Goodyears, they would be cheaper than a Hoosier! But as we all know it ended up being a big load of BS!

I think people are more concerned with "bang for their buck" when they go to a race.

It will cost a local team a minimum of $800 for tires and $150 for competitor license to take 1 lap @ a WoO event next season if the track they run normally doesn't run the same brand of tire that the Outlaws choose.

$800 start $$ is a loss of $150 BEFORE fuel, travel, pit passes, etc.. I think that is the point the original poster was trying to convey. Without LOCAL cars to fill in fields, the Outlaws will die quickly as "fans" will tire of spending $35-50 to watch less than 20 cars compete.

Until the ink dries on the WoO contract with American Racer, I'd day anthing can still happen. I'd heard they'd signed a "letter or intent" with American Racer, but don't know how binding that is in the court of law (which if they back out of their "Letter of Intent", I can about guarantee that it will end up in court).

As asked in an earlier post and never answered. Where is the press release from WRG/WoO that says this has actually happened????

OMG the sky is falling, the sky is falling!!

Last I knew each team signs an annual contract...their choice to sign on the dotted line. Easy enough for 10 teams to talk and decide what is fair and what isn't and negotiate before signing.

These are all big boys that run these teams, they know EXACTLY what they are getting into each year.

1. I want to know who these bastards are that want to make money? Selling tires for a profit and not to break even? That is just un-American

2. Is this a 40 year deal they are signing? No. Then I highly doubt this will be the end of the WOO. I make all kinds of bad decisions at work and I simply make corrections if things go horribly wrong and get things steered back in the right direction.

See you at the track(s)!

Where is it written officially that WOO picked AR??

does not appear to be a done-did-deal yet anyway http://blog.pennlive.com/patriotnewssports/2012/10/world_of_outlaws_deal_with_ame.html

I seriously doubt the WoO "people" care what a few posters on a message board have to say about what tire they run.

On the other hand, if you had the major promoters, Smoke, Kasey, etc., voicing their views I think they would listen.

For us to "tell them what we think" is of no value and would probably graner nothing but laughs!

By the look of the car count (55) at the grove and the attendance(record), could have been more if there was any parking left last weekend the outlaws are going to be alright

That's kinda like sayin 'the woo is doin fine just look at the cars and attendence at knoxville in aug.' In the spring race at the grove with the allstars they had 49 cars. So how much diffrence does the woo make? Looks like about 6 cars. Kville and the open and kings royal are a few races that are bigger than the woo. Jmo

as for selling tires at a profit.

people are saying they can by the AR tire for 190-200 bucks retail from what i understand.

now you would think that with the amount of tires the woo would go through that they could get a wholesale deal that would allow them to sell the tires at the same 190-200 dollar price and still make a little money for their effort. still there really shouldn't be an effort on their part to supply tires at a profit. the woo is not a tire business. they don't need to be jacking up costs to their teams. can AR provide a dedicated tire truck to follow the woo and supply tires to the series? especially if everyone else in the country that matters is using another brand? i mean if you are only supplying tire for one series, how much effort and expense can you afford to put into it? maybe the woo wants to take over the distribution for that reason. if so, i still pose the question of why can't the woo get a good enough price at their cost to supply tires to the teams?

at 30 bucks a tire profit, a conservative estimate would be the woo could make 250k for the year on the tire deal. that is providing they were paying the 190-200 dollar retail price. i highly doubt that would be the case. so for 250k you would think the woo could afford to run the tire truck for the season.

the woo doesn't need to milk the teams for more money.

to indy and beyond!!

My question is if the Outlaws have a deal with one tire company and the tracks have a deal with another. How can they run at that track?

Most in this thread was too busy hammering original poster to think about anything like that Rudedog if it becomes reality.

You would think the WoO would be smart enough to meet with the reps with Kville, PA, Allstar, etc..... and all run the same tire. Like the post above I cant afford to buy a full set of new tires for one race that I cant run the following week at my local track.

Do you actually think that the WRG cares about what any of the fans think??? As the old saying goes, "follow the money". That is what this decision is about, nothing more.

I don't pretend to be as astute as a lot of the contributors on this board, but I don't see how two different tire rules between local tracks and a traveling series like the WoO's can be good for the sport as a whole.

If you're not going to go to a uniform tire rule, and be able to save the teams some money in the process, why not go back to the '60's and run what ya brung?

I'm definitely getting old. Everything is just way too convoluted/complicated any more!

Why have any tire rule? Leave it up to the competitor. If some tire becomes the hot setup everyone will go to it anyway.

I suppose the reason for a rule theoretically is so someone won't dominate? That can happen anyway for a number of reasons.

Open the competition up...if there is a market...someone will make tires.

The tire "RULE" is nothing more than the tire company paying the WRG, Knoxville, All Stars, IRA to keep out the other tire companies!

If all the tire companies were allowed to compete, the competition between the tire companies would set the price and lead to lower prices and more innovation.

The tire companies have to charge more money per tire to pay these organizations!

Always follow the money!
